Other Factions?

They'll make a show in SST. :P

Anyway, all of this is just rumor so far. But using common sense, when it comes time to make the next four armies for BFE, you can assume that the armies mentioned will be among the candidates.

Hmm. If I had my druthers, I'd suggest alternating between the USMC and US Army once the first four factions have been "fleshed out" acceptably - after all, in theory, you can just keep putting out new adjuncts to the EFTF (There's Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway...uh...Ireland...). It strikes me that the relationship between the Army and Marines, in terms of how it all works out on the tabletop, is not disimilar. Of course, that leaves the question of where to go in such a manner with the MEA and PLA...

Nah, if I had my druthers, like I was saying, I'd consider Japan for the second wave. After all, they have a pretty well trained and equipped force, and in the wake of Chinese belligerence - that is to say, in heated disputes between the nations over resources - they HAVE been considering nixing that line in their constitution preventing them from starting a war. Banzai!

what's the difference between US Army and Marines?

Different vehicles and aircraft.

That, and the Army tends to get cooler toys. :)

Gamewise, I have a sneaking suspicion that the differences between the Marines and Army will be similar to the differences between the US Army and Task Force Talon in Act of War, respectively. One's more conventional, relying on specialist units to win battles, while the other rides on the bleeding edge of technology.

One theory going around on the back of last year's debacle is that most of the guys wth fire in their bellies are now drawing pensions.

probably as well as the brits and germans can under the EFT id say, its more do you wish to play to stats or flavour.

ARSEpedia says the difference between the USMC and US Army is that the Marines can at least shoot straight...

Considering the recent news story will the Russian army fdeature conscripts being used as prostitutes or homosexually raped (1 in 20 I believe! )

Back to my hole now.

Though Aussies would be fun as would Canucks or Poles.

I think that the experiences that they had in the Lebanon, where admittedly they failed in their war aims but did kill an awful lot of people, will lead to the next version of the Merkava sporting even better defence against AT missiles.
The Merkavas were cutting edge when they were first introduced, and I know the next version is in the planning stage. However politically Israel knows it'll be fighting militias, armed civilians and just plain vanilla civilians in the forseeable future, though the possibility of Hezbollah winning the election in Lebanon is now fairly serious after the Pro-Western government lost an awful lot of credibility in the war.
A game with basic MEA troops and rioting mobs vs Merkavas and snipers might be a fairly realistic protrayal or the current Middle Eastern conflict.

The taste question I will leave to one side.

Anyone interested in the IDF & Merkavas would do well to read this;

Yeah..honestly, can we get stuff from reputable sources like Janes, Matt?

I never said you should believe everything you read - whether it is War Nerd or Jane's.

For example, if I believed everything in JDW, I might be very worried about the Land Warrior kits on our marines :)
