Optional Skill System

To create some distinction between characters, I am thinking of introducing a skill system. Skills represent minor disciplines (their bonuses stack with those from disciplines) that can be obtained by anyone. Each skill provides a +2 bonus when that skill is appropriate, unless noted otherwise

Each even rank, each character may select a skill from the following:

Advanced Knowledge* (Kloon Sage)
Climbing
Crafting
Balance
Bribery
Dodge (instead of attacking a foe, you may add +4 CS until your next action, to avoid harm from all attacks)
Disguise
Disarm (Make an attack - instead of inflicting damage, your target is disarmed.)
Etiquette
Evaluate
Gambling
Haggling (Adjust all prices by +10% when selling, or -10% when buying)
Hiding
Intimidation
Leaping
Language (you gain fluency in one additional language, such as Sommlending, Durenese or Vassagonian, each time this skill is taken)
Lockpicking
Navigation (Buccanner of Shadaki)
Piloting (Buccaneer of Shadaki)
Persuasion
Perception
Riding (Border Ranger)
Sleight of Hand
Sneaking
Strength
Swimming
Toughness (increase Endurance by 1 - you may take this skill up to 3 times)
Weapon Training (increases CS by 1 - you may take this skill up to 3 times)

As a starting character, you obviously start with 2 skills

* You must choose one field of study, such as History, Medicine or law, which allows you to make a roll to recall facts on that subject. You may not even attempt to roll, without this skill. This skill maybe taken multiple times, each providing knowledge of another subject. Alternatively, you may choose this skill a second time for a subject you already possess, adding 2 to all such rolls)

Certain Disciplines completely supersede the need to make a roll , and as such, the classes who possess such disciplines are indicated - unless you dont wish to purchase those disciplines, there is no point choosing such skills.
