I know this is unlikely to happen given nothing is likely to come out for ACTA until v2 (nexy year sometime?) but what thought I would note down what I would really like to see (and purchase!) if Mongoose could pull it off:

1. One consolidated book containing the latest up to date rules for everything (play, campaigns, fleet lists, etc) all in the appropriate chapters e.g.

Chapter 1: Rules to Play the Game
Chapter 2: Fleet Lists (All)
Chapter 3: Campaign Play / Scenarios
Chapter 4: Token Book for everyship (inc. Armageddon ships, satellites and
Chapter 5: FAQ and list of additional sources for scenarios (links to fan sites, EM war book etc)

+ INDEX

That's it.

No lugging around of Revised Rule Book 1, SFoS AND Armageddon but one book to rule 'em all.

I realise that might impact on sales for the other books but it could make it easier for people to get into the game - think of the posts on the forum where people want to know how to get in and find out they have to buy a box set, SFoS, AND Armageddon to get geared up for tourney play...(although of course they could just get away with the starter set if they want).

Doesn't have to be a printed book - in fact, it would be MUCH better if it was a PDF and that any errors etc could be noted by the players and an update/correction could be released to eveyone directly purchasing the PDF.

In fact, I'm tempted to make one myself for my own reference...(I own a copy of all the the relevant fleet books, rules books etc).

Well just a thought but I would find it very useful...anyone else?

A good idea, but with v2 on the horizon, is it really worth it. I know some people not even buying Arma because v2 is out next year making Amra obsolete only a year after release. If it was cheap enough for the pdf, id definitely get it, but it'd need to be cheap.

I'd love to see V2 come as a unified hardback, but i wouldn't go out and buy a new book only to replace it next year.

I voted yes but I agree completely with Lorcan Nagle :D

More likely to be another box set with two books - Rules and Fleets.

I thought as much, But i'd hate to have to triple-dip on counters. Think we'd have any success asking for an SST-style hardback rulebook seperate from the box set?

No idea, it's months away yet, anything could happen.

For V1, I would not be interested. I have a rules book, SFoS, and Arm - certainly less then what I have lugged around for 40K in the past.

I'd prefer V2 as two books;

Book 1 for the rules (Softback) sized something along the lines of EM-War or Dilgar type thing - just print the damage and critical hit tables on the outside back cover as well as internally.

Book 2 for the full fleet lists (hard/soft back don't really care) contains a full list of all ships for the game.

It means that if there are significant additions or alterations to the rules, or fleets, then a revision of just the relevant book is needed.

Perhaps do Book 2 softback and holepunched for use in a binder. That means it can be updated as a living process, simple re-print the new page(s) when necessary, or just add in a whole new section for a new race.

Don t think thats a good idea :)
I would like to see the Version 2 like Silvereye with an additional book Nr 3 Scenarios and Campaigns.
All packed in a nice Box with counters for all ships and a hand full of white counter sheets.
Thats my oppinion
PS: There could also be a collectors edition, like an all in one Hardcover!

I would (and will...) suggest that would be better in amongst the rules in Book 1.

Especially with the greatly expanded Fleet list..

Indeed I would thank it all to be in the same book. Looking and searching book by book is so boring I am paid for it... you know, I´m a lawyer.

And the rules are not so clear, so it makes it more and more...

V2 could be what I still haven´t found and I was looking for.

Are any rules gonna change? I´m happy with them now... It could be just a refoundation...

Well, paint some Dilgar assault ships yellow and you've got the Vogon Constructor Fleet right there to go with it

This format in Second Ed would be good verging on necessary, and in the name of gamers' sanity get Matt Sprange an interpreter. Usually we work out what the rules mean, and play them as we think they were intended rather than as written. Great ideas, loopholes in the wording you could drive a bus through. :?
It would be positively cryogenic if it turned out not to need a shoal of Rulemastering, errata and FAQ.

just a thought here, but are any of the "Babylon 5" outside the UK? I don't remember who was picked, but I'm thinking it might be nice to get a viewpoint from across the pond.
