Old RQ2 mega-pdf release

And they're searchable as well. Makes sense, as Minty did them all as PDFs for the physical reprints. Now all we need is for someone to sit down and go through all the stats and update them from Chaosium RuneQuest 2 to Mongoose RuneQuest 2. Volunteers?

You can get pdf copies of all 4 of the Gloranthan Classics books in a bundle for only $60.00. That's over 1200 pages of Gloranthan goodness that is searchable and allows you to cut and paste the information into your scenarios, player handouts or whatever.

That would be cool, only I already have them in hard copy. When I saw the title I was hoping they where releasing things like Trolls and trollkin and some of those things that have never been released again. All the stuff I lost when I first enlisted 30 years ago.

I've actually already done this for quite a few of the Pavis/Big Rubble scenarios. I'd imagine there are copyright issues distributing them, but happy to share them on a personal basis, if that's allowed - anyone know?

Legally, no. If you know that the other person already has a legitimate PDF copy, then sharing an annotated copy is ethically defensible although still legally dubious. If they then leak it onto dodgydownloads.com - with your DriveThru watermark on it - then you could be in a lot of trouble. If there were some way of distributing a delta that could be imported as a page-by-page overlay then that would be ideal but I don't think that the tools exist for that.

I can see two answers to this. One is that I've occasionally seen people posting anonymised stat blocks as conversions from one system to another under a form of free use creative reinterpretation.

An even better idea would be to ask Rick Meints if he minds having stripped stat blocks posted. It is more likely to create interest in the product than harm sales of it after all.

Never hurts to ask.

This might seem like a really lame first post, but what's the art like in these books? I've recently become very interested in MRQII and Glorantha and getting these classic books would be a great way to get into the setting... but I'm a stickler for good art. Is it great or mediocre and more importantly is it inspirational?

Thanks in advance..

I'm pretty sure that they contain the original artwork, there may be a few new pieces that were commissioned to help with the new layout. It's all black and white, I think, decent quality. Original art might look a bit dated but I think it still stands up. Take a look at the previews, there's a couple of illustrations that give a general feel for the setting.

There are plenty of new pieces of artwork by Simon Bray and Dario Corallo. I like Dario Corallo's art a lot. Simon Bray's less so, but they capture very well the Gloranthan feel nonetheless.

I'm sure there is new art - I have a picture by Dario in my minds eye...

That's not what I was thinking of - I've just put together a 100+ page Word Document with the stat blocks. There's some notes on tactics etc that are taken word-for-word from the original descriptions (to say nothing of the names) but there's also original content eg my interpretation of Nysalor illumination for MRQ2. I'll get on to Rick and discuss with him what could be done.

Oh, that's a different kettle of eels. That should be ok, so long as not too much text has been cribbed.
Also, bear in mind that Rick doesn't own the material, he has a licence to reprint, but he might be willing to speculate (if he's not too worried about "giving legal advice").

While converted stat blocks are much appreciated, a conversion algorithm/method would be more generally useful I think. What was your method?
