Not the heat, it's the humidity...

We have been hit with an early monsoon season here in the desert. It looks like it will be dragging for several more weeks. What is an alternate way to prime models(both plastic and metal) without a humidity-sensitive spray basecoat? It can be a brush-on solution, as I'll do just a few models to get my through this humid spell. I would also like to know in case there is an alternate basecoating method that I might use on a few models that I don't really want to spray.

Spray gives you the best basecoat, but as you've said it is really dependant on the local weather. Options include:

1) Spraying indoors - mostly a bad plan as the vapours accumulate and strange and potentially fatal things can happen to you. However, if you take care to ensure there is a good airflow through your spraying area (open window and encourage a through draft) you should be able to avoid these effects.

2) Airbrushing - probably the best way to undercoat, however you need the kit....

3) By Hand - tedious and annoying it does not guarantee the best surface to paint on to.
