Not impressed with new ISA models what's the consensus?

i don't like any of the drakh to be honest (no offence ment to those who have drakh) and the white star gunship looks weak (which is quite fitting with its damage and crew levels) and i don't like the nolo'tar because of the LotR film but the white star looks really nice, as do the white star fighters and the carrier looks much better in the flesh so to speak than in pictures.

I don't like the Drakh minis either, but I was dead set on doing Drakh before they were even announced. Couldn't back out because the minis are bland and undetailed lol

And as for the Nolo'tar, i never saw it in Lord of the Rings (for those who missed it, there was a group decision on the forums a while ago that LotR was Lord of the Rings and that Legend of the Rangers never happened, but if it must be referred to then it should be called by its proper name of "Bag of Crap"

I don't like it because it is far too large! and it was in "that" film ;-)
and I hope to never see a Valen, it was clearly a naff ship, it got shot, what? twice, and blew up! It seemed to have no wespons, no stealth, and a hull made of Drakh armour ;-)
Senator Hiffano we wish to send you to the conference in this new ship, with a 100 year old scout as escort.
Screw you bone head, I'm going in a Sharlin or a Victory or not at all!!.... would have been a lot shorter film though ;-)

Sorry I thought you meant Lord of The Rings... was was most confused, I had fortunatly managed to wipe that "bag of crap" out of my memory.

I was so stressed by the memory of that that I even quoted the wrong post in my reply.... I should sue for mental torture.

I think the Narn contributed their armour technology to the ISA and thus the valen was designed. thats the real reason G'kar is along. as with all ships with narn tech armour 1-2 shots and it dies.

sorry about the caps but I hit caps lock by accident *HONESTLY* and decided to leave it caps for effect.

I just feel that it would be better if it were scaled down a bit.

Same here - I always thought it should be more the size of a Halik.

The WS gunship is ok in my book, it´s not a big step from the classic WS to an upgunned version. The one thing that keeps me from getting me one is that I´m not overly fond of the miniature)

The carrier however... too big (why does it have dodge when the Nolo´Tar doesn´t?), too chunky and messed up details (although Shadow Queen´s looked pretty pretty).

Thanks Must Eat Brains you have made me smile the first time today

I don't remember seeing the Bluestar in the movies, Crusader, or main series? Legend of the Rangers?

I don't consider Legend of the Rangers to be really anything more than the Scifi's channel excuse to piss off the fans. Horrible horrible movie.

Seriously I don't think the bluestar really fits in? Why can't the ISA make a ship that doesn't look like a white star? Is there no other form factor? I would think that the ISA would take the best technology from all the races when designing a ship. Thus far everything has been a sort of cheap knock off rather than a amalgamation of different technologies?

Anytime! :D

Oh, and for the others: I somehow liked LotR (apart from the Kung Fu firing mechanism of course...). I might be a freak, but I can live with that!

MEB - Don't worry you're not the only one who kinda liked it. I've been a huge B5 fan for a while and actually enjoyed seeing a new movie. Though it had way too many cliche's and the firing mechanism was the worst idea ever. Hmmm...Let's see rather than push a button a few hundred times during a major battle we'll make shadow-box in a giant floating sphere. Stupid bonehead design...

Sorry, I think it was a good idea, just its something that would work well in a book, but looked utter cack on screen.

Agreed on the Whitestar Gunship. I could possibly justify buying and using one, as it is today, if it was a ridiculously sweet model. Even if the stats get a much needed improvement in 2e (something that I worry may not actually happen), I may still not use it because of the current model. The current stats are abysmal. I can hardly believe anyone would field it right now.

If there are going to be 2 variants of the whitestar in 2e at the same PL, it would help to have 2 different models. That's just a want though, not a real need.

Personally, I rather like the carrier, although i would say the paintjob is important. the model for the gunship is a tad pap, but I think a lot of people hugely under rate it, any ship that can remove 2 drakh light cruisers, 1 scout and 2 raiders from the board in one turn (not to mention a Morshin caught in an explosions) can't be that bad! and i quite like the bluestar.
