Noob question on survival rolls (character creation)

Hey folks I am going through the character creation section in the Characters & Combat book.

The format for a survival roll is (STAT) and a #+ for example END 7+

What does this mean?

I am guessing that this is easier than a standard check and we use the DM based on the value of the characters Endurance? (Like a 10 END would be a +1)?

I think I have this correct, but couldn't find an example of character creation or where this is explicitly broken down or clarified in the book.

Thanks!

Make a 2d6 roll and include your END modifier (in this case) and roll 7 or greater to make the check.

Okay...so this is something different than what I posted above or are you confirming what I posted?

At many points during a career, a Traveller will have to make a dice roll of some sort. Most of these rolls are based on characteristics – simply roll 2D, add the DM from the listed characteristic, and try to get a total higher than or equal to the listed value.

So, a roll of INT 8+ means ‘roll 2D, add your Intellect DM, and you succeed if you roll an 8 or more’.

END 7+ means roll 2D, add your END DM, and succeed on 7 or higher.
