Nolo'tar and Troligan

I'm not going by the PL, i'm going by the actually supposed size of the ship.

Those are B5 maitbots flying round it and their pretty small, but it isn't that big, plus it can land in a planets atmosphere, not many huge ships which can do that...

If those are the ones I remember from the show this would be equivalent in size to a whitestar, but it has been quite some time since I saw one, I may be thinking of a different vechile/driod.

My comment was based in part on the fact that I have heard this said about most of the patrol ships and a good number of skirmish ones. Saying it seems too big in relation to what we saw in the show is fine, saying its too big for a 'frigate' is something I have more of an issue with. Largely because modern naval terminology doesn't mesh with what we saw in the show, but also because PL and ship purpose don't necessarily equate to mass. That and you can't really tell much about size form the show even. As someone recently mentioned to me, we see sharlins in drastically different scales compared to B5.

Well, hopefully all of the recent and upcoming ISA and Brakiri ships will allow us to eventually see Reinforcement Boxes for both fleets. A combination of a Whitestar Carrier, Fighters, and Gunships plus the Liandra should be enough to make a decent Reinforcements Box. The Brakiri have the Brokados, the Halik, and the new scout plus the other new ships that are to be coming soon.

As they expand other races they really need to release Reinforcement Boxes for each of them. The races without them have a slight financial barrier for people that want to collect those races. I know that it is not a huge issue, but it would help those that don't play the big 4.

well im still not going to field the nolo'tar despite the fact i field an ISA fleet because it reminds me of the rubbish legend of the rangers film.
Which is worse; Legend of the Rangers film or Troligan II?!?

The Nolo'Tar, looks more like something the 'Gropos' would be using, and not the rangers.

But it does look like the ship from the awful Legend Of The Rangers so you can criticise JMS rather than Mongoose if you think it looks like an EA design. Ironic considering the Valen was supposed to look "Earthy"!

Anyways I think the Nolo-Tar is too big and I don't like the Troligan, what was the reasoning behind it getting a resculpt!?

IIRC I thought the Valen looked like a flying brick

Well we see Primus hulls in use by the Drakh when Lennier spies on them so they could get those too!

Sounds fair to me, after all the Drakh used the Centauri ships quite extensively, seems a lot fairer to give the Drakh some Centauri ships than giving the EA the Victory Class - yes they only get "one" but in most games thats enough!! You might as well say that the Drakh can have one Shadow Cloud too!!! fairs fair after all.

Yet the Centauri fleet in Sky Full of Stars get Shadow tech in the form of pods (i hate body snatchers)

Troligan II is cool. LotR was lame. Therefore, Legend is worse.

well the troligan jokes (nemo etc) were funny, but the legend of the rangers was terrible but not laughable so the film was worse. The new/nemo model was a source of humour even if we were laughing at it, but the film was just disappointing

Can't believe the question has to be asked - that film was awful.............

can we all have ship killing grenade attacks on the most gulliable alien races in the universe.

and what was with that terrible virtual attack thing?! that made the film even worse, and it was dreadful to start with.

Based on the auxilliary targetting systems on EarthForce ships, I think. Some of the novels mention holographic visual targetting used when the sensors can't track targets properly. Happened a lot in the Earth-Minbari War, apparently.

I suspect it had something more to do with the holographic displays used on Minbari warcruisers...

It was a former Minbari ship after all...

I never heard of the Minbari using a visual targettign system based on their holographic technology, though. EarthForce did, according to the novels, and my point was that the concept we saw in LotR was based on this earlier concept from the books. Not that the technology the 1,000 year old Minbari ship used was based on human equipment...

I came across this picture of the new sculpt Troligan on Ebay for sale, painted with the more traditional Minbari blue (unlike the very light version on Mongooses site).
I think it would fit nicely with the Minbari :)

It does look better in that shot. It's just the "eyes" above the blunt bow and the general shape of the wings makes it look like a fish. If it gets decent stats I might get one for my planned Minbari fleet...
