Nodules on Minbari fins

I am in the process of assembling Minbari ships for the first time and I am discovering small spherical nodules on the edges of each of the small "side fins" on the larger ships. These do not show up in any pictures, but they occur on all of these fins on multiple models.

Is this a casting defect that I should cut off, or are these weapon pods?

I clipped these off for the sake of symmetry. There were originally left and right fins and the nodules were part of the design but now they are fairly redundant.
