Yeah. Minor casting issue I suspect. But, I like them better than the plastic. They are perfect for the smaller ships and help balance out the larger ones.
 
how many plastic stems have you broken? i've only put 5 ships together at the moment and i've broken 3. It will be good if it is metal bases.

Not so many in the last few years. Any ship of size went onto brass rod or tube stock.

i had same sort of problem with my minbari fleet box as the holes to receive the metal stands were not big enough, but was soon sorted with a small battery drill on very slow speed :)
 
I was astounded that the metal stem that came tih my G'Vrahn fit in the hole! it was fab... les fab was the insane amount of flash, and those damned bars between the wings. I lost some of the inner wing details to remove them! :-(
