Actually no it isn't advertised as a supplementary volume. The description page for it on the Mongoose website:

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/detail.php?qsID=788&qsSeries=7

says (added bold for emphasis)

The complete Conan Atlantean Edition in a handy sized pocket filler format. No longer do you have to risk your lavish hardback rulebook at the gaming table, as this pint-sized version contains all the essential rules you need to play the RPG.

If it is missing the Creatures section then it is obviously not complete as the AE has this info.

Not complaining either way, I buy pocket guides as additonal, I don't own Conan (yet) I'm just presenting the evidence.

And there you go, so where do you get that it is a "supplementary volume?"

Personally I think that the pocket edition is brilliant! It is the right price for new players and a handy size.

That said, most of you are correct in the improper billing of the book. It is certianly not "the complete atlantean edition", for not only is it missing the Beastiary, they have also ommited The Hyborian Age and the Gazeteer. Once again proving that it really is a players guide.

Wow, I really need to look at what I bought! Gazeteer is really useful to players, in order to decide on what kind of character to play?!

Well, i stand corrected about it being directly marketed as anything other than "supplementary"...by the strictest sense of things.

However, "pocket guide" seems to intimate a brief, rather than extensive, book of stuff.

Use beassts out of any d20 game, they work just fine. Besides that, the Pocket Guide does have all the rules you need to play - just no monsters to fight. That's not missing rules though. :?

Well the 4 other Mongoose pocket guides I have are basically smaller versions, the Pocket PHB, GM Guide and Modern PHB are just smmall format printingso fhte relevant SRDs as far as I can make out. ANd the Pocket B5 guide is just the 2nd printing of the hardback in a smaller form. AFAIK the B5 one is complete apart from pictures and possibly some fluff text.

That was my assumption, that this was going to be a complete book, like the others and as per the description, as I had seen nothing to the contrary.

The asumption was a valid one I reckon, it's just a shame it wasn;t in this case. I'm sure Mongoose will do something to help ease the pain of those who only have the Pocket edition.

Personnaly, I enjoy the Pocket Conan and dream about purchasing the missing chapters in PDF format. It would be the perfect solution for me ! :)

The perfect solution to me, would have more naked women in the books. I'm somewhat surprised that no one has bitched about this book being to small and easily eaten by my dog. I think people just love to bitch for the sake of bitching. No one can have it their own way.

If I were to bitch and moan, I'd bitch that I can't have a complete Conan book, filled with all the conan supplements, bound in the human skin of those who love to bitch about the slightest of things that happen here at Mongoose.

Well, I've never met your dog, so...

The last time I have seen that dog, was in the jaws of my Conan book. Good riddance, you stupid dog. If it wasn't for those stupid animal abuse laws, I'd have killed that damned dog a long time ago. Thankfully, my Conan book took care of things for me. Not the Atlantean version, mind you.
