Does anyone know when the next S&P is coming out? I saw where Matt had mentioned a big write up of 2e in the next S&P and was wondering when I might get my hands on that.
Thanks!

Well, I have just finished writing the main preview article for the next issue of Signs & Portents that will introduce the world to the second edition of A Call to Arms. What was intended to be a half hour job gpoing over the major changes has turned into an 8,000 word epic that took most of the morning to do, and covered many of the design decisions made during the year this game has been in development. If nothing else, it should be a good read. . .
I am really looking forward to the game's release. As I type, we are still on course for a general world wide release on the 27th of August, those in the UK and Europe will see it perhaps a week before. Those lucky enough to be able to attend our Open Day on the 4th (and see Miss Christian in all her radiant glory!) will be able to get their hands on the books then, along with a few other choice items.
Speaking of which we have just had the penultimate batch of new ship models come in and, as I type, they are on Adrian's desk awaiting his tender attentions. The new Psi Corps fleet is in, along with the first of the Gaim ships, the new Brakiri heavy fighters, the Drakh Carrier (yes, it exists, just the Mothership to go!) and Patrol Cruiser, the resculpted Fireraptor, a Jump Gate, a Badger Starfury and some other bits and bobs.
For second edition we are also completely revising the contents of the Fleet Box Sets. Each will be a set five point Battle level fleet (the Shadows and Vorlons have 5 point War level fleets), ready to choose ships from for tournaments, or use as is for campaigns.
As I said, I am really looking forward to the launch of this game. Hand on my heart, it is the best we can do, heart and soul. The play is balanced, the fleets nicely themed, and it creates the ideal baseline to build upon in the future.
Of course, there will be some on our forums who flick through the book and cry out 'you've nerfed/ruined/unbalanced/made Godlike fleet X, Y and Z'. But that will be okay. It is all part of the game. We have purposely designed the fleets so they do look really good if they are a favourite, and do look really terrible if you have to face them. Many have themes that have changed from Sky Full of Stars, and tactics will have to be re-learned. Again, this is all part of the game.
Get ready for second edition in August. I promise, it will be a good 'un.

You're deliberately leaving it till last just to taunt Hiffano, aren't you....yes, it exists, just the Mothership to go!

Excellent, Smithers.a Jump Gate
Woot!a Badger Starfury
Will make the ISA one interesting... either it loses the Victory, or it becomes a lot lighter! For second edition we are also completely revising the contents of the Fleet Box Sets. It can't get a Sharlin and a Victory, that'd be 6 battle points already. My guess would be it loses the Victory altogether, giving something like 2 WS Gunship, 5 WS, 3 BS.Da Boss said:Burger said:Will make the ISA one interesting... either it loses the Victory, or it becomes a lot lighter! For second edition we are also completely revising the contents of the Fleet Box Sets. Maybe it gets the Sharlin model as well as the Victory ? or LOTS of Blue Stars

Hang on.....
Starfury Tiger
Starfury Badger
Starfury Aurora
Starfury Thunderbolt
Starfury Firebolt
Shadowfury
.....is a lot of fighter classes for one race! Must get around to doing a fighter-squadron game variant.
No mention of breaching pod models on that list.

Big question; Will the new fleet boxes be 'Poseidon-fashion' - i.e. include those fighter bases that the ships included carry, rather than an arbitrary (and usually insufficient) amount?
