Newbie Fleet Paint Job (IJN)

Hi all! I recently got my website up and running again and with that, have started to post some random pictures I had sitting around.

Our group got into VaS a few weeks ago while at Historicon (thanks a lot Alex!) and have really enjoyed the few games we played so far. I purchased a few ships there and here is my first attempt at painting them. I have more on order but thought I would post a few out there and get any feedback. My carrier deck got messed up just before the pictures and I wont have time to repaint it for a few days (so I know that one looks bad). I know almost nothing about the era and have been looking at various websites to help get a feel for colors and such.

Any and all comments are welcome.

I will continue to publish more pics after my next order comes in. All ship models are from Viking Forge.

Thanks!

Very nice. The Yamato you have is after her AA refit in early '44. It's a perfect configuration for the Battle off Samar and her final battle. :D

If the heavy cruiser is a Takao class (to the left of the Kongo), it is just about the perfect cruiser for delivering lethality. Dang it, but the IJN ships are something to behold. They are "graceful metal" and dangerous foes.

Yes, thats the Takao. I have used it twice and its performed very well. I hadnt realized how effective the long rang torps would be. Even without them...I still love the look of the ships on the table!

Great looking ships! Keep the pics coming!

More closeups would be great! :)

Just move closer to the screen, Soulmage.

LOL!

I will try and take some more close ups after I finish the next batch.

Curtis

Yeah, I'm glad that you are doing that. Soulmage is getting on in his years and his rangefinders aren't what they used to be.

Really nice, had a look at your webpage, may have to try axis and allies board game, I have been trying to decide over the years if to buy it or not

Love the ships, looking forward to the close ups (my eyes are going with my old age  )

Yeah, Axis and Allies is a great game...A lot more detailed than I had thought (I figured I would play it a few times and get bored).

If I do close ups, you can see the bad paint job

I hope to get those close ups this week. I cant wait to get the rest of my models too...
