Newbie at Traveller some questions!

Hello, i am a completely new player at Traveller.
I have the MgT2 Core rulebook now and have some(newbie) questions:

a) When the system say "DM+1 if SOC 9+", like in the University entry, does that mean that i get DM+1 if i have SOC equal or above 9 or
that i have to roll a SOC 9+ like the entry roll and if i succeed i get the DM+1? (MgT2 Core rulebook pg.14).

b)"If you leave a career, you cannot return to it in the next term." (MgT2 Core rulebook pg.16). Does this mean only in the next term?
on in any next term/terms?

c)By core rules is it possible to start the campaign while still in a career?

d)When you are Drafted in a career is it the same as getting in the career by any other means? so if you get drafted in the Army
you can roll for commision, advancement, etc.? and have many ranks/terms in the career?

a) That is correct, get the DM+1 if your SOC is high enough.

b) Only the next term.

c) Generally speaking no... but that option will be available in the forthcoming Companion.

d) It is the same indeed!

So if you get out of a career and get benefits, when you return to it ,at which rank do you?you roll again for qualification?

C) There have been many times my groups have played 'in career'. The players make characters until either they 'don't survive' or voluntarily stop. The term they stop is the term they are serving but get the benefits from the previous terms.
