I would say the idea is to make an interesting / new skirmish level ISA ship (so they don't need allies ? )

I hate skin dancing myself - but its an interesting idea. If you are going down this road maybe something like - it automatically succeeds a skindancing roll, make it SM as its the culmination of Whitestar technology?

(*) I am assuming that the new version of Skin Dancing is used and it can't attempt it if Crippled.

re the Raid version if it designed to rely on dancing I don't think it should have the missile launcher - its seems very old tech?
 
I don't know if it's deliberate by Mongoose but I don't think any ships in the game have multiple damage mini-beams. Or precise Minibeams for that matter.

By default no I don't think there are, however through campaign refits its possible for Mini-beams (and other weapons systems) to gain both precise and DD. So Technically it is possible for something to exist in the ISA arsenal (Maybe Minbari too but I don't think they have a turbo weapons refit, I think the precise refit the ISA has though came from the Minbari Table). So its not entirely unreasonable that a Weapon system like that could exist.
 
Mixing and matching traits is how new stuff gets done... don't see any issue with mini-beam and other traits.

As a Mini-beam is just a beam weapon that doesn't rake across the target doing just a point impact (the same as most other "pulse" or similar weapons), see no reason that they should not be able to have those traits...

*Edit - In fact you might expect precise to fit with the operation of a mini-beam better than a full beam...

yeah that too, i like them as an alternative to full beams etc.

also the omega-x doesnt need increased secondaries, it just needs the longer ranged beam and possible shields.

by the way, how does the feel oof the ship feel? think it woudl make an acceptable skin dancer?

And yes,iwas tempted ot put in afterburners.
