new space game?

I do remember the computer model of the Emergence ship that appeared in Planet Mongoose months ago.
It looked pretty good.
Reminded me of a Star Destroyer.
Designed by the same guy who is responsible for the newer ACTA models.
:)

I'm not entirely sure if my memory is correct on the following!!
I think the game is set during the future as nation states go to space.

hmm.. cant find it though.. : \

If you mean the model posted on Planet Mongoose, it's here:

If Mongoose does try a new space game in the future its gotta learn from B5 ACTA.
The US foundry just wasn't upto the quality control needed for a hugely successful game.
I just hope there not involved in any future games.
No disrespect meant but time after time the quality control issue was raised due to unhappy customers.
They did make some improvements but i definitely wouldn't use them again if it was my company.

P.S. i still have two Tinashi's , a good example of the Us Foundry's outragously bad quality control.
How anybody thinks they should get paid for the lumps of metal i got is funny
Good ridance.

Just a lone voice in the wilderness, I'm hoping that it ISN'T Trek!

So there!

Two reasons:
One, never been a big fan, it's too 'nice'.
Two, SFB did it better.

Much better to have something independant, hopefully with ship construction rules so all those odds and ends of ships that have been gathered over the years can be statted fairly and used.

If it isn't Trek, then it isn't.

What really worries me is that if the new game sucks just enough to fail, and hence bury the possibility of ever reviving ACTA. So, to guys at MGP, please take your time and do serious market research before launching it. Speaking as a modeller, and not gamer, I don't need to say that my primary concerns are the aesthetics of the ships, and casting quality.

We like your games, but not when it's been done so carelessly (as I honestly feel has been the case for ACTA lately). Rushing ships into service is rarely a good idea. Yes, I know, we get all pushy and go "Man, I want that ship, NOW!!!" every now and then. But we love ships done properly and just keep buying the older models, right? I had to wait quite long for some Early Years EA ships, and that was before the extreme shortage period... And if yopu look at the "ugliest ship thread" it should at least give some ideas of what your fans' taste in ships are like.

Assuming there is going to be a new game now and assuming that miniatures will be coming back in 2009 and assuming that said new game will be supported with miniatures...

Quite a few assumptions here...

If the game is released I hope it has a truly outstanding background and isn't just another Starlancer/Full Thrust/West vs East in space.

It will need a unique thriving universe and a unique STYLE that catches the eye and will be remembered by people (anyone ever though of giant semi-organic monstrosities with a big crust of space-seepocks on their hulls?).

It also needs an outstanding playing style - infact, wether I play Full Thrust, ACtA or Battlefleet Gothic they all feel somehow the same.
Where is the gaming system in that a single Torpedo will cut a cruiser in half? Where Fighter screen is REALLY important. With truly specialized ships and not all ships just being larger or smaller than the others (I think of things like huge flying gun barrels that are effective against large capital ships but vulnerable to anything above fighter size (okay, in FT you can do that, but the system doesn't truly intend this) or ships specifically designed to shoot down Fighters and Torpedos).

Mongoose needs to assure that this game doesn't turn out as "just another space battle game".

Its late and i'm tired ...........

Lets be honest here.
Mongoose has ZERO credibility left.
In fact, its the opposite.
We're in the minus's for credibility.
Asking about some game that may or may not be produced in 2009?
By Mongoose?
Who cares?
Who in there right mind will buy into a future Mongoose miniatures game?

And why should we?

I agree with those sentiments. I mean look at the printing fiasco. By the looks of it (from another thread) they seem to be stopping with their own production. That looks like more lay offs and probably selling the equipment.

I for one probably will not buy a new mongoose book until I see threads stop which complain about the quality of the books.
