These were designed partly for CTA, but also for a new space combat game we are hoping to bring you in 2009 (and that is all I will say on that matter!).

It's not confirmed yet.

I'm holding out for a Homeworld game... but I don't think Mongoose could afford the license.

It actually bodes better if this game does see the light of day, because it will need models, which means Mongoose getting back into miniatures in 2009.

and it's not Homeworld

Star Trek would be cool ^^ but that is an expensive license id say ^^.
I would guess they make one with self created background.
And it would be cool if you could use the ships from ACtA as well ;).

But i have to say im worried a little because of that, since why would one sell to similar games?

Lets just say Mongoose create a new space combat with models in 2009.
Those models could be used in ACTA as new races.
Unofficial but a possibility.
8)

If Mongoose releases a new space game in '09 and it has models it bodes very well for ACtA models reappearing. ACtA, SST and whatever this new game is provides the three lines they need to run the foundry at a profit.

Exactly.
And guys, Star Trek is a wonderful dream. But its not gonna happen. I have no information but why should Mongoose pay a huge licence when they can create a new game themselves?
Support the background/fluff with books.

True. Damn Paramount...

What are the candidates though?

Then again... Maybe there's no point in guessing. We can speculate all we want, but if the plan has been made, it's made. Besides, there are many of sci-fi shows and games I'd like to see in miniature.

Agents Of Gaming went down a similar route once they knew they were losing the B5 liscence.... i do hope i`m not in for a repeat. :?

Planning for Emergence began months ago.
Before all the bad miniatures news.
:)

You might remember a ship design that was posted on Planet Mongoose months ago.

umm... AOG also started many months before any bad news was released.

I was presuming a "generic" space game could mean that it is not neccesary for MGP to produce minatures but instead they could use 3rd party minis - much in the same way as GW does for it Warhammer Western game - have nicely painted minis in the rules and credits for the producers?

Licencing issues are reduced/eliminated and the rules can be generic enough to have both a "suggested" fleet listings / background but also allow you to mix and match.

Depends if they go down the route of allowing constructed ships?

probably wrong though..............

that doesn't tally with what was said about the bases though
