New ship leaves the yard: The Pegasus

I'm assuming the pics on the 'Coming soon 2008' page have the Pegasus. I'm pretty sure the one in the middle is the Boreas-Class. The rear end of that thing needs redesigned, imo. The back end just doesn't fit with Earth design :(

But this is the original design for the boreas.
Don´t worry...it is possible that i make an complete new design for an Cutter class. And the boreas must be redesigned,...smaller.

I'd prefer a new design. The Nike is a fine design, but to have a whole bunch of ships based on it.. Simply boring.

Where, in the FAP scale of things, do either of those two sit? The 'Pegasus' from what I've been able to gather, is a replacement for the Hyperion, correct? While the Marathon was supposed to fill this role, it *can't* because it is too high a PL. Would the Pegasus fill a nice spot at Raid level? I really hate fielding Hyperions with my crusade fleet, regardless of how good the stats might be, its an eye sore.

The Nike is a "Battle Cruiser", would this be bigger than a Warlock? Silly naval jargon would imply so. I'm also not fond of having a third party ship as my Armageddon choice. I'd LOVE something like this official as EAs Armageddon choice.

Has anyone written up stats on either the Nike or Pegasus?

the EA has the victory class as an armageddon choice? well specifically 1, lone victory class!! is that not good enough for you? and the Hyperion was a replacement for the Hyperion, just because it was a different PL implies advances in technology

I'm aware what EA gets as an Armageddon choice :P I don't like it. The Excaliber doesn't even *belong* to the Earth Alliance. Its on loan. I would like to see EA fielding something of Earth design. Not some bastard Minbari, Vorlon, Earth-thing. Sheesh, even the Psi-Corp have their own Armageddon hull (ok, its a bastard too, but at least its theirs).

The Crusade Era list has the Hyperion in there because it *lacks* a solid raid choice. And in Raid games, it seems that Crusade Era is only slightly different than 3rd Age and Early years. Its significatly weaker, as a matter of fact, because of the lack of the very solid Olympus. It gains the Delphi, which I think is an amazing scout, able to cruise around where ever it wants while still doing its mission and is tough to kill (hull 5, interceptors, anti-fighter and stealth? weeee).

I prefer an new design, too. The boreas is an fine ship, but you have sayed it...

really an challenge for me to create an new design in the future. I don´t want that it ends in an myrmidon  sorry....

Yes, i have collected some stats from the earlier topic about the pegasus.

Nope, it's slightly smaller than an Omega according to EFNI. Faster, similar firepower, less armor compared to the Warlock. In this sense, the Warlock is the battleship contemporary of the Nike.

Wasn't the Warlock an Armageddon ship in 1st ed Armageddon? But I guess everybody's happy the Warlock is where it is now.

I like the Warlock at war. its fitting. It shows that Earth has reached a technological point where its main line ship can stand toe to toe against a Sharlin. Its an agressively designed and deadly ship fully capable of handling its own on the battlefield.

I really love the Earth ship designs, especailly the Crusade era. The Warlock is sleek and deadly, I love the Apollo and Delphi and Chronos. I *hate* the design of the Victories. Earth can stand on its own and I would really love to see an Earth design at Armageddon level that proves this. Something along the lines of the Warlock, only different enough that it is unique (so no Nemisi, thank you).

well heres an armageddon ship I have been working on rules for :D ok it doesnt fit the crusade mould for looks but then its supposed to be a bit differant.

I have worked on some Armageddon lv. ship designs for the EA, of course. But this is an long time ago. The atlantis is an interesting design, also.

I'm sorry that thing looks like the bastard love child of an Adira and a G'Quon. It just doesn't do anything for me, it doesn't look anything like an EA ship.

Atlantisver2.png

looks about as EA as a duel hulled nike.

The side view looks a little better, but the top view still doesn't look good. I've never been a fan of the Nike either though.

Yeah...but it is really difficult to find an complete new design for an Crusade EA ship that not looks like the warlock or is designed in the nike style. I mean the best is you evolve existing designs.

for example: Hyperion > Tempest (or Charybdis in my cause) etc...

I agree it does look quite Centauri (apart from the rather dull colours  )

However it could of course be a result of Earth / Centauri co-operation if the events of Lost Tales result in a friendly Centauri Emperor and an exchange of technology / ideas..............rather than outright war.

would mean a restating but interesting? :D
