New player - A few questions

Mongoose
Howdy, I just played my first game of Victory at Sea and a few questions came up.

The rules say that a carrier can recover aircraft but they say nothing about how this works or indeed what the point of recovering aircraft would be. Have I missed something? Why would you want to recover your aircraft?

How do you launch spotter aircraft from ships with the Aircraft X special rule? Does it work like a carrier ie moving in a straight line etc?

Is it correct that there is no way to rearm aircraft?

First off you should get the second Expansion, Order of Battle it has corrected lots of rules and greater explains everything. The reason to recover your flights is they are useless after you use them in an attack against ships. (out of Bombs, Torps) Second fighters can only dogfight for 2 rounds. After this you can only defend.

Observation Aircraft: Observation Aircraft are no longer represented on the tabletop during games, unless being used in an ASW capacity, and do not affect combat or Initiative.

Ammunition
all aircraft carry enough ammunition to last for two turns of dogfighting.

The process of rearming and refueling requires a flight spends two full turns on a carrier (after the turn in which it lands), and replaces all bombs, fighter ammunition, and fuel used in combat.
