New Errata

ADB did (or maybe does) themed dice for the main races. I had a set or three somewhere.

In terms of releasing new stuff you have two factors.

One is the books and the other is the models. Books are going to be (I think) the lesser seller), you buy a book for yourself, a few friends buy a book and you are done. Then you buy the fleet boxes (I'm told they do exist, Honest  ), the squadron boxes, the extra singles or the Border boxes when they arrive since some of them have a good mix of ships for three races.

So that’s Fed, Klingon, Gorn fleet boxes, probably a squadron box for the others then border boxes to round out the minor races and build up the main (Gorn, Klingon, Fed) fleets.

That’s a lot more money (and profit) on ships than for one book.

In terms of continuing to make money with new ships all the new designs can come in the hardbacks. But I suspect there would be a sizeable market for soft back mini books/pdfs every so often, 20 or so pages with a bit of fluff, a few scenarios and a set of ship stats based on existing hulls. Sort of like Communiqué from ADB.

I have already mentioned scouts, we have escorts as well. Ships that can use the same models.

Things like leader class ships will be new designs along with carriers, tenders, fighters, PFs, survey cruisers, Drone ships etc.

I think it might be best to wait and see what Matts does next - from the growing thread on lumbering

Then I must ask why the Gorn just lost Phaser’s and the Rom gained Phaser’s.

That was not our choice.

Sorry Matt but you cannot argue both sides at the same time. If the game is its own game (which is fine) then you cannot take away or add stuff to make it a more perfect match for SFB/FC, if it is intended to be as close as possible to SFB/FC then why is it different?

The problem with the errata has been that the game has effectively developed two masters, each of whom is trying to do something a little different and cater to different players. However, we think we have found a solution for this that will be beneficial for everyone - please bear with us for a couple of days or so, and this should no longer be an issue.

Is there any progress on the errata in terms of:

Are the previous "SFU non "Critical" amendments" staying as is?

Are there any more to come (which may make ships better or worse)

Will these changes be looked at in terms of improvements or degredation of the printed ship lists and consequently points changes considered where neccesary?

Is there still to be two different lists of Errata - if so which is the one to be used in officila tornaments and events - if its the all inclusive SFU one - what is the point in having two lists?

thanks

We are currently discussing all of this with ADB, to come up with a single, unified errata that we are both happy with.

So much fuss over twenty three pages of rules and fourty pages of ship stats. When will we see the Doomsday Edition so we can satisfy all the whiners?
