New Dredd Models - What do you Want?

We are testing a new group of sculptors for Dredd at the moment. So... what would you like to see?

We are not going to hand out any 'characters' to begin with, so no Dark Judges, McGruders, or any other personalities.

But what about Sov Judges? More Punks? More Blitzers? Gila-Munja?

Let's get a list going and see what we can't bring out for you chaps over the next few months!

My preference would be:

Citi-Def units
Perps and law breakers with interchangeable weapons/heads.
Robo-pack 2 (starring Walter and Call Me Kenneth.)
Sov-Judge(s) and East-Meg One troopers
Stookie Glander (w/action Stookie)

A couple of Brit-Cit Judges and a couple of Mega-City Judges with widowmakers (or perhaps a seperate widowmaker for conversions?) - or have their arms out and a seperate widowmaker and scattergun, so you have a choice of rifle weapons? And how about a Mk.I or II Mechanismo?

What he said. I LOVE switchouts and with your game system, seems like a must do.

One or two Mechanismo units would be great. I would love a few of those.

I would like an Exorcist Judge too, but they are pretty obscure. Any subset of Judge that has ever featured in the comic would be good with me to be honest.

The Gila Munja tend to look a bit goofy in appearance and the Gila Bruja look like something that can be proxied by existing miniature ranges. They would not be at the top of my list, although I am interested in all Dredd related figures.

A male Hondo judge would be good. The last time that I checked there was only one female Hondo judge in existence, but she is the only one ever seen in miniature :)

Generic sci-fi vehicles with a MC1 look would be fantastic, but I imagine that that sort of thing is far down the the-do list.

While I would happily pick up more or less any Dredd related miniatures, I would rather that Mongoose focused on things specific to the setting. For example, miniatures suitable to represent sci-fi gang members are available from a number of sources whereas Fatties, Skysurfers and Kleggs etc are not. The ape gang is a stellar example of this, with that paternal boss being a particularly special miniature.

Specific Dredd-verse characters are cool for sure, but I am more interested in generic types so the stated plans to focus on those are fine with me.

I would like to second the request for Brit City judges.

I think the Lawmaster issue has been beaten to death, but I'll give it one more kick anyway.

Organ leggers would be neat to see, and I would buy a couple. Some people who have been to Otto Sump's ugly clinic would be cool.

Weapons, weapons and weapons. I would gladly buy three or four assorted weapons packs if you offered them, especially if they didn't all have hands molded onto them already.

More generic judges would be good too. I like to have plenty of judges, but if I weren't comfortable with heavily modding figures I wouldn't have bough nearly as many Mongoose judges as I have, as I don't want to field a force (Even if I do only field it when I'm being a dirty snitch.) that's a bunch of blokes all in the same pose.

I'm really not that interested at all in Citi-Def guys. The figures I liked the most from the old stuff were the ones that added character. Mainly the specialists. The lawyer, bouncer(I know he had a different name), fatties, etc.

What I liked about the line, aside from it being 2000AD, was that there was so much variety in the way it looked and it wasn't like most other games where you just play orks, or robots or marines or whatever. The sort of game that it was called for the units to not look cohesive at all, which is really what you'd be looking at in gang situations.

I'll have to dig up the picture, but when I found out about CoMC-1 I literally bought one of everything. All at once. It made for a nice picture when it all arrived.

Then I bought some more of the plastic gangers boxes and some more judges.

Well, that's long winded enough for now.

I will say two more things. One is fairly useless (from a business standpoint) and the other you can put in your pocket until you start making specific personalities.

There is certainly an outcry for vehicles and little Megacity bits. The production costs would likely outweigh the sales, though, unless you marketed the vehicles as generic Sci-Fi as well and were able to give them a wider appeal. Then again, to do that might mean making them less Magacity specific, and then you'd just have guys complaining about how generic Sci-Fi they are.

Lastly, I would love to see a Styx.

Wouldn't mind having some 'ordinary' citizens (including a muzzled 'biter'!), to throw into the mix and get in the way during a game.

Oooo, a wish list. Well for me, i'd like to see the current forces added to and making the game itself a bit more solid, rather than a 2000ad miniature collection. Judges/Cal, Punks, Apes and Robots are all solid forces, but the rest seem limited. What i'd love to see would be:

Zombie minis for the necromancer plus some Charnaks (the super singing zombies) to bulk that force out.

Gangsters, think there's only one out. Also this force could do with a few more choices to make it a bit more unique, why not add Cleaners (think there was a GOMC1 mini at one point), add Jimps to the force (in the comics the gangsters went through a few ideas to break the law, one of the were Jimps so it seems to fit) There were gangsters who had all their features removed so they couldnt be identified, they'd be fun. Also, i'd jump at the chance for a Bite Fighter bodyguard. A new Blitzer would be good, the old one looks more like a standard Gangster to me.

A Fattie Coach would be great to add to them, maybe to give them buffs or "motivation"

As for completely new stuff, I'd love to see a demon cult force as featured in the Possessed story for Anderson, having a leader, cultist, possessed human and a demon would make a good force.

Gila Munja would be good, especially looking at more modern artists take on them that look less cartoony and more brutal.

Oh, will we be seeing the new Citi-Def minis that were on sale at Gen Con 2011? They were very nice.

I think as far as game terms go, Punks, Apes, Robots and Judges have enough variety already out, although I do know Judge minis are always going to be a major draw and Judges with different weapons seem a popular choice.

Anyway, that's my two cents :D

Generic civilians would add character - I also like the idea of MC-1 'bits' or scenary pieces, but I agree there may not be a huge sales boost from them. Although there must be a market for building that aren't gothic!

Non MC-1Judges would be good - especially another Hondo Judge so that my one doesn't get lonely. East Meg, Brit-Cit and Oz Judges would be great - but again, acouple of varients so you can field a group of each.

To be honest, I think I wouldn't buy Cit-Def units - there are so many other military and paramilitary ranges out there that can be used as proxies. It might be nice to buy some to support the range and especially if they had a really strong MC-1 feel, but not convinced.

Hey guys, There's a few things i'd like to see, some have already been mentioned.

Gangs of Neon Knights. They were a bunch of anti-robot bigots that destroyed robots
A Fattie Trainer would be awesome, as would a Bite Fighter
A Judda, Gila Munja and Exo-Men would make great mercenaries
A Cultist Gang with Possessed/Demon
Troggies, the big eye'd type, they'd go nicely with the werewolf
A gang of Rogue Judges like in Inferno could have some fantastic potential
Mechanismo and Exorcist Judges are about the only thing i'd want to see for the judges, international ones don't really interest me, and a Judge gang never doesn't warrant that many minis anyway
Maybe a new Superhero/Vigilante, maybe based more on The Executioner. Can't say im a fan at all of the current one.

I've been waiting for zombies to come along, so fingers crossed they wont be far off, and Charnaks would be fantastic to give the force an extra hero type.

There were gangsters who had all their features removed so they couldnt be identified, they'd be fun.

They were called Blobbs, they'd be great, especially if they had rules that meant they were hard to arrest. There was a series of stories of a crime syndicate trying different ways to get one up on the judges. This introduced Blobbs, Blitzers and Jimps IIRC

I'd certainly like to buy some Citi-Def even though there are other trooper types out there. Citi-Def are so whacky and so MC1. The pics i've seen online of the ones that were available at Gen Con looked just like the comics, so frankly i'd order them at once!

In all honesty i doubt i'd buy terrain, WWG make nice modern terrain that, with a little tweaking works fine for JDMG. I wouldn't be opposed to citizens, as long as they're are A) usable in the game and B) Very Dreddy, like Simps, Fuglys etc

Is there any word of what's in the works, and what got finished by the last sculptor? I think the last word was there were a few things nearing production, but it's all gone pretty silent recently.

Here are a few I'd like to see:

Sovs - I know we have the agent, but perhaps two Sov invaders and a general would throw up decent scenarios

An escapee from Titan - judge-gone-bad

Escapees from Cursed Earth Work Camp

A Bitefighter

hideous 'Blight Club' Uglies, in swanky clubbing gear

A couple of sledgehammer-wielding Wreckers

An almost-naked Simp

A spraycan and pistol carrying Scrawler

Old School troggies

A Flying Squad Judge, with jetpack

A shuggy hall set, with lumpy table and two players armed with shuggy cues

Having an Alien Zoo Warden would justify using kid's rubber monsters in a zoo breakout scenario...

Thanks!

Ned

A few things i'd definitely buy would be...

Mega City Zombies or the upgrade kits that have been mentioned

A cultist gang either demons or Dark Judge cults from the video game

City of the Damned Judges

Titan ex Judges

Citi-Def Soldiers

Fattie trainers and Flab Fighter gladiator Fatties

A Raptaur

The robot wrecker gang

A Bitefighter

The Hunters Club

And Ottos Sumps Ugly Clinic Patrons

Thanks :D

That was exactly what I was thinking. Great potential for the miniature and the rules. :)

In addition, why not a cit in a zoom suit?

I'd also be very interested in more mutants, but made to look more "Old West"-ish, as classically portrayed in many of the past and presents progs.

Anyone unsure on what/who blobs are there's a nice pic of them on this link:

Wow there's been some great suggestions i'd certainly second Exo Men and Neon Knights (those take me back), a Mechanismo (especially if they had rules to malfunction and attack the judges :P ), Flab Fighters would be awesome, maybe just additional arms and a head for the current bodies would do, and the Titan Rogue Judges are a brilliant idea...I'll also throw into the mix a couple more. A Wally Squad Judge and a Pirates of the Black Atlantic :D

A quick question to Matt. Are there any minis that the previous sculptor finished and going into production before they went off the radar? I know i've mentioned the Citi Def Unit but did the Mantic Zombie kits ever make their way to Mongoose?

Seems like forever since the last JDMG release, but i'm glad this thread shows there's still plenty of Dredd Heads active :)

One more idea to throw into the mix (last one i swear :P ) A Dog Vulture for the Cursed Earth Desperado's :D

By all means, keep them coming - we are compiling all suggestions into a big master list that should keep us busy for, well, years!
