Necromantic Arts

The King

Cosmic Mongoose
This book has already been on schedule for sometime.
Does anyone know if it is Glorantha-specific or generic RQ?

[I wouldn't mind to have some info on Delecti, though he was called a necromancer after the Dragon killed almost everyone from the EWF.]

I have been giving a lot of thought to Gark, it would be nice to see him fleshed out. Especially as he crosses two different otherworlds, sorcery and spirit.

My guess very little Glorantha specific as most society that tolerate sorcery would not tolerate a necromancer. And those chaos type that would allow necromancers for the most part are not advanced enough to have sorcerers. An exception would be the Valdeli and maybe the Sporlites( I spell that right?) in Carmania .
Of course there always some solitary Wizard exploring a forbidden path and Vampires .

Which is what's interesting about Gark. It's a cult that tricks people into joining then turns the cultist into a Zombie. How on earth do they not get found out immediately and slaughtered. Jonny goes off with his mates to join a strange new cult, suddenly jonny and his mates go missing and then there are a load of zombies. Nobody is so stupid they're not going to put two and two together.

My feeling is that Gark provide useful service to those people who look the other way. Zombie farm workes and miners, never complain , never need to be fed and will not run away or quit. And you where wondering how they where able to mine all that salt with only 4 people.

This would explain a lot of people I have worked with in some of my past jobs...

Interestingly George Romero, of Dawn of the Dead fame, says his work is "about revolution" implying that zombies are the working classes battering at the gates of the rich. Just a thought.

I think an idea Gark society would be an island some where, far enough not to be visited often but close enough to sell their crops to a larger society. And every now and then recruiters leave the island to "hire farm workers" to help with the harvest, offering very good wages. And of course they only hire vagrants, beggars , and other that will not be missed.
and as for the mine. You have a small family run mine that seems to be doing very good. although only 8 family members work the mine their output is twice that of similar family run mines in the area. And to help make a few extra coins the family also runs a small in for travellers. Of course a few travellers seem to disappear every now and then , mostly itinerant peddlers and vagabonds nobody pays attention to. Funny how the menfolk there seem a little out of shape to be doing twice the work of their neighboring miners. Whats their secret?

Do you think ordinary Orlanthi folk will offer sacrifices to Gark just to keep him away like they do with Malia to keep disease away. You get secret little covens and everyone wonders why there are so many zombies.
