The EA's particle beams are the other way round... beams that don't have the Beam (or mini-beam) trait ;)

maybe we should leave this here before the biggest can of worms in the galaxy is opened!

Well the Beam trait represents a specific method of scoring damage rather than actual beam weaponry - it's just that beams do it most often.

When do we ever see "particle beams," anyway? Babylon 5 has those quad-barrelled cannons, and I always assumed these were the "particle beams" we get in the game. If so, they don't fire beams, anyway. They're pulse weapons...

Rename them "particle cannons" and be done with it. Argument solved.

Its basically a throwback from B5Wars. Yes give me the usual 'its a different game' line, but ACTA IS based on B5Wars more than it is on the show itself.

The closest we get to seeing P-Beams is on the shadowomegas on the show but we don't I believe ever see an omega using them. Personally I'd be happy to see them go and make the pulse cannons (the forward ones) VERY powerful, after all theyre what are scariest about the EA generally on the show it seemed to me.

I do recall an episode where an omega was being swarmed by white stars or something and they were firing the midships mounted particle beams at them. They are used in that episode at least although that was the only episode I recall ever seeing them.

Tzarevitch

this goes to the cannon argument, Canon is a good reason to give the EA minibeams( if the general hints here mean that!) it would seem, but not to give a g'quan forward arc beam

The problem is that Omegas have been seen firing straight beams AND particle-like shots.

When the White Stars try to liberate Proxima III, the Omegas fire particle shots. Another time (that I can't recall at the moment) they were firing lasers (i.e. minibeams). Maybe give the Command Omega minibeams? Just a suggestion...

Umm, no it isn't. . .

Really? Ship names. Weapon names. Fiction in B5 Wars and not from the show.

I agree with Locutus. I mean, I can't blame you... cause everything IN B5 Wars is easier to work with, cause we would have only a handful of ships and just a few weapon systems. Plus, B5 Wars gave you a metric. I mean, why isn't the Primus a WAR ship and a Vorchan a BATTLE? Why? Cause you still have the Octurian (B5 Wars ship) to put at WAR level... plus the Dargan and Centaurians, which according to B5 Wars, was better than a Vorchan.

Again, I can't blame you guys for doing it... but don't pretend like this game is based on the show...

I didn't say we didn't use B5 Wars at all. If it was suitable, it went in. However, the show has always been the primary source.

Because we are not stupid. The first ships to go into the game were the 'iconic' hulls. When we came to the Primus, or the Omega, for that matter, we knew it was very likely that, at some point, a more powerful ship would need to go into the list. Why? Because that is how these games work

That is exactly what it is based on.

a hell of a lot of effort has gone into making this edition of ACTA the best reflection of the show there has ever been

Good , try harder!

To be honest, the boresight on a G'Quan isn't the be all and end all. After all, I normally use a mag cruiser! However, when obvious boresight ships like the WS get a forward arc (when they are maneuvreable enough to boresight!), then we hear that we are trying to be cannon, it's just frustrating.
