Mongoose
Hi
Played my first couple of games of VaS last night with Admiral Digger. Just thought i'd share a few of my impressions.
Overall, I like the game. It played fast (Battle Of The River Plate x2 in 2 hours). It looks good even with my badly painted navwar ships.
A few things I found interesting;
- You really need to remember that similarities aside, this game is not ACTA. There are some fundamental differences such as the fact that hits don't automatically inflict crew damage along with hull damage.
- There are a lot of modifiers to remember with -1 if targetting ships which have moved more than 7", + 1 if you have spotter aircraft, -1 if you're firing at long range and so on.
- The Special Actions may look similar to ACTA but they are different so read them carefully
- Torpedoes can be very effective, as the Admiral Graf Spee found out last night.
As i said, overall I enjoyed the game very much and i look forward to playing some more.
