My 2000AD Traveller Adaptation Wishlist

Okay, so far the Judge Dredd adaptation of Traveller is pretty much on the horizon, heading in to port to the eager anticipation of a lot of fans.

In the past, someone mentioned the possibility of Strontium Dog as a Traveller setting; did someone also say Rogue Trooper as a possibility?

In any case, among the many possible 2000AD settings I'd like to see made into Traveller sourcebooks, a handful spring to mind in particular;

- Savage;

- Caballistics, Inc.;

- Robo Hunter, and, most of all,

- Nikolai Dante.

If, beyond Dredd, Strontium Dog and Rogue Trooper, Mongoose were to be given the licence to print only one other 2000AD sourcebook, I would love the setting for that sourcebook to be Nikolai Dante.

Does anyone here have a favourite of their own they'd like to list?

There are, I understand, thorny rights problems.

ABC warriors is a likely candidate, which would open up the possibility of doing a Nemesis sourcebook.

Halo Jones, obviously, unless there are thorny rights problems.

That's a damn great pity, though not unexpected. Alan Moore and Ian Gibson's background for Halo Jones was one of the most in-depth and well-thought out examples of its kind. :(

Failing that, and failing Strontium Dog (my next favourite), how about the VCs?

It hit us _exactly_ how to do ABC Warrtiors for Traveller the other day - might be one for next year. . .

The old GW Traveller figures included the ABC Warriors, so someone had the same thought.

I'd love to see Rogue Trooper being done under Traveller. And, just for laughs, DR & Quinch - if Alan Moore would let them go! But please - NO ACE TRUCKING! Ever.

So, guys, whom else would you like to see from 2000AD gracing the inside of a Traveller sourcebook? What recurring regulars would you love?

A thought: Durham Red, drawn by the artist who drew her so lovingly - Mark Harrison, of The Travellers fame, IIRC. Bringing in Dan Abnett to helm the book as well would be frosting on the cake.

Apart from the announced ones...

Rogue Trooper (+ the 86ers). This would be really useful for military games.
Halo Jones (probably impossible)
ABC Warriors (from the Volgan War to Mars, maybe leave the rest of it to the Nemesis book)
Nikolai Dante (though not sure how to incorporate all the nob gags within the rules...)
Sinister Dexter (this would be quite cyberpunky, I guess)
Bad Company (now that would be twisted)

Conversely, how about getting a Traveller-esque strip in 2000AD? Been a long while since Ace Trucking Co, and that really is the closest 2000Ad has ever come to a free trader style story.

(Just sell it as the Red Seas in space... ;))

A shame they can't do a Dan Dare game....

Nikolai Dante might be rude, but come on. It's a Rogue - themed SF setting. What's not to love about it?

And while I'm at it, The Stainless Steel Rat also got given the Carlos Ezquerra treatment once, so I can cite Slippery James Bolivar diGriz as a 2000AD character I'd love to see in the pages of a Traveller adaptation of 2000AD.

- Rogue Trooper definitely but obviously added with 86ers (and Tor Cyan).
- Bad Company, oh yeah!
- ABC Warriors (with Nemesis)
- Durham Red could work as a sourcebook for Strontium Dog but then again she's just another Stronty and why she would need a game or supplement of her own? Unless you mean the story/stories where she is woken in a far far future?
- Supplemental material to help run stories like Lenny Zero and Cursed Earth Koburn for JD

Second (or third or whatever) the vote for the Durham Red stories (Scarlet Cantos, The Vermin Stars, The Empty Suns) and also the Nemesis material.

And, yes, Mark Harrison must do the art for the Durham Red book ...
