Multiple Fleet Carriers

Are there any advantages to having TWO Fleet Carriers in a battle?

I'd imagine that the +1 dogfighting bonus would NOT stack for a +2, for example, but would each destroyed Flight get TWO recovery rolls instead of one, provided that it was within 30" of both carriers?

The fact that I'll be playing my first game in over a year tomorrow is purely coincidental... 8)

No, you only ever get one attempt to recover a flight (it either makes it back to the Fleet Carrier for repairs or it doesn't).

The benefits of a second Fleet Carrier are not so great but having some redundancy in case one is destroyed, better battlefield coverage with your carriers and of course, simply bringing more fighters and ships to the battlefield can still make it worth it (particularly for the smaller carriers).

I could have sworn that I read that Fleet Carrier only allowed recovery of the carrier's own fighters...
I could be mistaken, but that's how it read to me.

A fleet carrier can recover fighters other than its own fighters, providing that they're a type that it could normally carry. As an example, the Avenger could replenish any Auroras, Badgers, Novas, Thunderbolts, or Tigers in a fleet, regardless of which ship they were originally stationed aboard (or even if they were fielded as an independent wing). It wouldn't however be able to recover Nials or White Star Fighters if it was taken as part of an ISA force. It's also questionable that they could recover Black Omega starfuries, but I could see some people claiming that they can, as "Any ship carrying one or more Starfury flights may replace all of them for any other Starfury type". (Fluffwise I would say that they can (with the Black Omegas using Auroras with minimal modifications), but ruleswise I would say that such a claim would be stretching the intent).

It was like that at one point, wether SFOS or Arma rules I don't remember

I don't remember it ever being like that, it must be pre-SFOS.

I'd say yes.

I think with the game rules then yes, the ship has the ability to launch and recover them, although i supose when people decide to get technical, they will say that the launching mechanism needs to be amended for the fighter, and the landing deck strengthened, and new fule nozzles added ;-)

Not necessarily; it's the fighters you're paying extra for, not amendments to the carrier...

Who knows, depends how efficient the centauri navy is, if they are anything like the royal navy then they are boned!

I think the only restriction is that they can't recover fighters from allied fleets.

A White Star carrier can't recover Nials or T'bolts... that isn't an allied fleet...
