Hello. I'm quite new to this game.
I thing the figure in the dogfight rules are unclear or not as clear as they can since my groups have misunderstood the rule ( in my opinion, but we are french so it's not so easy for us to understand what is not explicit ). We using the revised edition.
We got a pack of 8 falkosi against 3 starfury and 2 T-bolt and my friends do it as a single dogfifht.
I say we must do 5 dogfight at each attach phase ( Brakiri and EA ) and that any ship in base contact and not conducting the fight is supporting, but i'm not sure of this.
Since the verbs used in the rules are engage and target, it may only the attaking that can add the support bonus, or any player who trying to destroy a ship so both.
And it's unclear who decide what fight what. It's seem logical to presume that the attacker decide, but it's not clearly stated since dogfight is automatic when flight come to base contact.
And we are not sure if you may try to attack a ship more than once : the rule say "You may add +1 ... for every extra flights... [Flights] may never conduct a fight against a flight they have already helped support against" It look as if the flights haven't support they may attack the same target an other time.
So with two line of fighters counter lined and center TTT against FFFFF ( each T is in contact against 3F But only the F in the center is in contact with 3T ), EA attack,
A) is there - One dogfight T+2 against F+4
- 3 dogfight T+2 against F+2
- something else
B) If a F is a weaker fighter may it be attacked specificaly, may it be attacked more than once to destroy more supporting flights
C) If a T is weaker may it be targeted by a stronger F,
D) If a T is weaker may it only support others
E) May the T do 5 dogfights
F) If the F attack may they do 5 dogfights, may they do only one, or 2 ( 3F against a T twice and the one in the middle support twice, so all F dogfight )
To my reading of the rules any flight must dogfight once and only once so the lower number of flight is the number of dogfight, the attacker nominate the flight involved and then both player collect their support.
But with this the explanation of the rules is useless.
