Motor Torpedo Boats

Questions from OOB MTBs:

1. What is the split value in AA for? USN PT Boat AA is 5/1. What does that mean? AA is range 5/AD = 1?

2. Do the torps have range 10" like every other Navy?

3. If a CF marker/miniature/stand represents a section of 2 boats, do they get two forms on the fleet list? Example: US PT Boat form has 4 AD, so for 1 FAP, they get 2 stands of boats. Each stand is 2 boats. Do they get 8 AD or 16 AD in a flotilla attack?

4. The armed trawler/VP Boat comments on p. 8 make no sense giving them a Target score of 6. Why would a large/slow trawler be harder to hit than a slow fast PT Boat at Target 5? The data tables on p. 10 are realistic giving the trawler/VP Boat a Target 4 instead.

Yes

2. Do the torps have range 10" like every other Navy?

Strictly yes, although it should really be a lot less (as should most torpedo ranges to be honest).

They get 4 AD per stand

Go with the table rather than the text.

Coud it be that by the MTB some Statts are Missing?
Because the Elco for example has only AA listet but when i search the Navy Historie site i found that they had 2 x 6" Guns as Weapon.

It would be good to see a link to that site. If you put a couple of 6" guns on a PT boat you'd probably sink under the weight :)

Didn't PT boats have a 20mm cannon and either two twin .50cal MGs and/or a few 37mm guns only? (as well as the ubiquitous torps of course).

Sorry mistake from me there some boats with two 6 pound guns.

Hope you can read German.

Thats better - craft such as the later Dog Boats and SGBs often shipped two automatic 6pdrs, or an automatic forward and a manual 6pdr aft.

Out of interest, later British MTBs and MGBs were to have been equipped with 4.5" guns, but these were very short barelled and fitted with autoloaders. This was in response to trials taht demonstrated the ineffectiveness of non-HE based weapons in sinking coastal targets.

To be honest, probably not worth worrying about - the player's "god like" view of the wargmes table gives them much better Situational Awareness than was afforded to PT and MTB commanders through the use of radar.
