If we're gonne be right about thiswhat about the first edition Nova? Hull 6 and 15" range on its weapons

Frankly I think it was fine. It should have had more damage and crew...and been Battle PL.

And yes, I think it still should.

But my choice has to be the 1st edition Dag'Kar with those 6x4 E-mine launchers that could still cause criticals - no other ship can fire 26AD at 30" range!

Energy Mines could split AD into multiple blasts with these rules too.

Thing with the A Sag is the rest of the Early Years list is pretty weak, which is kind of the equalizer in a strange & perverse way.

Tourney Sag all the way. Seriously, how many all-Sag lists have you seen/played against/read about. Far too many for my tastes...

What is new with the Skirmish Level Arm. Sag ?

The tournament Sag became the Official Sag at Skirmish Level and is allowed to use all of the earth special missles in tournaments.

And there's still no restriction on taking an all Sagittarius fleet so I wouldn't expect those who took it to stop now. The rest of the Early Years fleet is actually quite nice, with good ships...at least not counting Battle, War or Armageddon PLs!

Don't forget it gained 2AD on its front missiles and lost 3 points of damage (that made no difference due to the already low crew score).

Well personally i agree with Triggy, except that id count the SFOS WS more borken than the Prefect. but that has more to do with the abilty to roll 3+ dodge..... (Yes my brother can turn a 5+ dodge into a statistical 3+.....i never want him at the helm of a WS)

And i think that the Nova is a very viable ship. though i wouldnt care if its a battle or raid incarnation. That is up to people who actually play the fleet.

You read my mind. I was just going to bring that up.

However now it is probably one of the worst ships :-(, it now has less dice, and e-mines that don't crit and the hull 4 just rounds off it's naffness.... I'll still use them cos i like the model, and enemies still "think" it's scary, until it has shot and done nothing apart from some antifighter kills...

Yes. Definitely a shadow of its former self (no pun intended).

Maybe a re-think in 2nd ed? hint hint mr playtester..
dunno what to be honest, hull 5, 2 extra ion torps in exchange for one e-mine tube? so only 12 dice of e-mines, 4 ion, and a 5 hull? makes it decently potent, but retains it's mine feel? Some people might say 4 dice of precise torps is too much

I'd pretty much agree with you there with one addition:

3. 1st Edition Maximus

i wouldnt say the maximus was broken, all it used to kill was fighters (which it did do a great job at) but it really could hardly touch normal ships, but it did make good bait tho

Didn't the first ed Maximus have massive broadside batteries, for skirmish ship it was just to much and being hull 6.

yeah but all it was good for was taking out hordes of fighters, ok it was Hull 6 but why would you be going after a ship like that, it posed no threat to any of your opponents ships (unless they had a fleet of carriers) there are soo many way better skirmish imho

10 AD Twin-linked each arc. Only range 8 though.

Hull 6, 2 interceptors, speed 12, 2/45 turns.

Very nasty little bugger.

OUCH..............

Man i am so lucky that i never joined up before SFOS............

Since SFOS stuff has really goten alot better. :D
