Mongoose, would you PLEASE improve packaging

Mongoose
of the Kzinti miniatures. I bought some singles from ADB, and the BC's booms were bent 90 degrees at the body. I managed to bend them back into place, but from what I'm told they are likely to break on the next bump/drop due to metal fatigue. I now have to fool around with some way to brace them, probably steel wire or something. :(

They look to be fragile, and would benefit from some sort of packaging to keep the ships from shifting around in the box during transport. Plastic tray would work best, but that would probably be the most expensive option. Wrap the minis in bubble-wrap (individually taped?) would help as well.

I was going to buy more Kzinti minis, but that is in doubt now. I don't have a retail establishment to look at the minis before I buy them, picking out the ones without badly bent booms. So there goes at least 8-10 minis, maybe a fleet box worth, not purchased because of this.

for me i cut down a sewing pin and then drills a pin size hole in the body just under the boom, glue the needle in the hole and up against the boom and its solid, fill in the gaps and contour to look natural and it looks pretty good. This was my complaint as well the booms probably need to be a mm thicker and this problem would go away.

How do you drill a hole parallel to the booms? I would think it would be pretty tricky to do so... especially when all you have is a largish-power drill, not a small hobbyist style hand drill. :(

This is something we are actively looking at, with some redesigns of the Kzinti moulds to help stop this happening.

While thicker booms might help, I am not sure that will be enough, with the contents of the Squad/Fleet boxes shifting around while in the mail/transit. Some of those packages are probably handled pretty roughly.

I have a drill press, I set up a hobby vice clap the mini in place and set me drill stop to the depth and i go very slowly. I had to adjust the boom out of the way, or like a had a few that were busted off. readjust the boom or reattach then drop the pin in the hole glue it in the hole and to the boom and there ya go.

I just got my unopened box of Kzinti and most of the weapons pylons are bent (which I expected) but the resin ship (the Dreadnaught, I assume...haven't looked that closely yet) is completely broken. Mongoose will replace this, right?

You guys have been really good in the past replacing parts, but the body of this ship has the starboard side sheared off. Hope I can get a replacement.

Matt, while you are at it redesigning the molds, can you look into the issue where the Kzinti FFs have booms that are not perpendicular with the ship's body? I mean if you look at the ship from the top down, the booms are not at the 9'oclock and 3' o'clock position. They both have about 3-5 degrees of tilt rightward, so that the left boom is a tiny bit cocked towards the front of the ship, and the right boom is cocked towards the rear of the ship.

I spoke to another player who had Kzinti miniatures, and his FF are the same way.

That would be me and all six are a bit askew left to right.
