Modular Lego Ships

Sleight aside but one of the really fun things about TNE was making Frankenstein craft out of recovered ships.

I agree with you on both points by the way.

IMTU if a ship is found that has been looted the wall closest to the the cargo bay has been carved open the the M Drive and J Drives pilfered. At 1.5 to 2 million a ton it is worth it. Same thing for the Power Plant.

Sounds labour and energy intensive, since you have to cut them out of their brackets, and if there isn't an accessible maintenance hatch, you'll have to cut through the starship hull.

If the ship is Jump capable and in any shape to haul off it will end up in a galactic chop shop. :) Theev probably runs one to keep things Core book related.

What to do with a ship given the 1st edition warnings of molecular markings is up to each GM. personally the trope of the used and slightly shady ship and parts dealer is too good to pass up, so I figure ships would be chopped into pieces and find homes in tramp ships all over. Your mileage may vary depending on law level and whether or not serial numbers would be passed along to planets in a Sector.
