[modern combat] New mini sources?

Lorcan Nagle

Mongoose
OK, so given we ain't getting minis from Mongoose in the forseeable future, what are good sources for alternates? I've been looking towards 1/72 as a scale, just due to its' close compatibility in terms of size with existing models, ubiquity in model kits, low price and ease of purchasing in Ireland :D It's fine for vehicles and aircraft, but Infantry will be important too, especially if the new edition of BF:Evo has French, Germans or other Middle Eastern forces in it.

I've been using HLJ (A japanese toy and model shop with very good prices) as my listing so far, and hopefully other people can add in suggestions to follow.

Here's some stuff I've found so far

Wow, that site's fantastic.

Here's a direct link to their modern section:*removed because the webmaster don't like it*

I'm so getting some of those Revell 1/72 british infantry...

I've got some of the Revell mini's. They are considerably smaller than the mongoose ones. You'll need to base them (GW round bases seem to work fine). If you're going to use only them (or other 1/72, I'd guess) I think it would be fine, but they look awkward next to MGP stuff. If I remember right, I've got some US troops (both modern desert and vietnam era), german KSK and crisis reaction (good for dog handlers), and I think some brits.

A mate of mine's got some 1/72 scale infantry and while it's smaller than the MGP stuff, when it's based it looks grand by comparison. Though he was using it all in a self-contained army, it looked fine on the table against an MGP one.

You guys need to checkout Evo Com for all the 1/72 plastic soldiers.
Beyond the Call of Duty subforum.

P.S. Lorcan you might want to change that link to PSR to the homepage, its what the owner requests when linking to the site. :)

I've been compliling lists of 1/72 because it's close to the evo scale and easy to get. Other peopel are welcome to put in other links.

I'd welcome lists of both scales to see the better option.
I am looking for suitable minis to add to my MEA that I already have... :)

Is there anywhere you can get the IDF troops in a similar scale either the same as current BF:evo minis or the 1/72?

Troops?
None in 1/72 plastics.
However Orion have been making a set for ages. I wouldn't hold your breathe on seeing these anytime soon.
There are some nice Merkava 111 pre-painted tanks available.
Or the usual merkava plastic kits.
I'm not aware of anybody in 28mm that does IDF troops.

Mongrel miniatures make 28mm IDF from 1982. These are much bigger than mongooses's official troop scales.

I found a store on ebay that had a bunch of 1/64 diecast, thought i'd give you all a link :)

Nope. I own their IDF and US Marines. On a GW base they are exactly as big as MGP miniatures.
