Mongrel miniatures make 28mm IDF from 1982. These are much bigger than mongooses's official troop scales.

Nope. I own their IDF and US Marines. On a GW base they are exactly as big as MGP miniatures.

Are yours the 80's version? And is there a more mdern up to date looking mini for the IDF?

so if i want to go to 1/72 but have the shadows what do i do then???

this was the origianal reason i went with the mongoose models in the first place...
i already have an pile of 72nd armor and us infantry and one of my friends has british i built all that to promo the game before it came out with preview cards and rules. got some peoples in with that stuff.
but now i have platoons each of USMC, PLA and an mob of MEA hanging out waiting for reinforcements...

the eurika usa store is out of stock on the Austrailans that I really want. and has not updated thier stock levels in ages... *sigh

really suggestions on 72nd shadows (other than scratchbuilding) are appreciated...

Based on the British List in S&P, here's a few models to consider:

Note that yet again I'm sticking to 1/72 scale because of the ubiquity and price.

Infantry:

Revell modern british infantry. I've a couple of boxes of these guys, and while they're a bit small compared to other 1/72 models, they're not too bad, and very cheap. I've worked up an analysis of the models in the set and putting together evo platoons using them, which I'll stick into another post.

Liberation models British infantry.

Armour:

Airfix Scorpion/Scimitar tank. It's 1/76 scale so it might be a touch too small beside official Evo minis, but the scale difference shouldn't be too bad to 1/72. Also convertable to Striker/Spartan

Dragon Armour Challenger II variants

Ace Models Scimitar in 1/72

There doesn't appear to be a 1/72 scale Warrior in production at the moment, which is both saddening and annoying. Revell did one up until recently, so if you're planning a brit army it might be better to get them sooner rather than later! Note that Liberation are doing a 3 for £15 deal on the kit at the moment, that works out at about $40/€25 before shipping. Easy model have a number of pre painted ones out this year though

Aircraft:

Airfix Chinook

Airfix Apache longbow

airfix Navy lynx. Should be fine as the transport lynx, or modified to the gunship version

airfix single-seat Eurofighter Typhoon

Italeri 2-seater Eurofighter(I have this kit and it's quite good)

Italeri Chinook

Italeri Apache Longbow

Revell Single-Seat Eurofighter

Revell 2-seater Eurofighter

Revell Chinook

Revell Apache longbow

Requirements for a platoon
Assume 1 command section, 3 rifle sections, 1 manoeuvre support section, allowing for max number of LSWs and LAWs
Code:
Needs: From Box
Lieutenant x1 Use radio pointing, remove radio aerial

Sargeant x 1 Use radio pointing or crouching, remove aerial or spare L85A2 mini

Radio operator x 1 Use radio crouching

Corporal x 4 Use radio pointing or crouching, remove aerial

Lance corporal x 3 Use radio pointing or crouching, remove aerial

L85A2 x 6 Use L85A2 at ease

L85A2 (AG 36) x 9 Use L85A2 aiming, add detail to gun to represent GL

Minimi para x 8 Use LSW advancing, modify magazine to box if necessary. Use LSW Readied to represent readied model

LSW x 6 Use L85A2 with bayonet

LAW x 8 Use Missile minis from box

Total use:
Code:
Model Number needed	Number in box
Radio pointing or crouching: Up to 10 6
L85A2 aiming: 9 5
L85A2 at ease: 6 5
LSW: 8 5
L85A2 with bayonet: 6 4
Missile: 8 5

Using 3 boxes to make 2 platoons gives you the following spare/required minis:
Code:
Model Needed	Spare
L85A2 at ease 0 3
L85A2 aiming 0 3
L85A2 w/bayonet and ammo box 0 0
LSW advancing 1 0
LSW readied 1 0
Radio pointing 1 0
Radio crouching 1 0
Sniper 0 9
Mortar 0 9
GPMG deployed 0 6
Missile 1 0
Missile + L85A2 0 12

Conversion suggestions:
Use Missile+L85A2 minis as potential replacements for the Lieutenant, Sergeant, or AG36 armed troops
Use one Missile+L85A2 trooper as the final LAW-equipped trooper
Use mortars as spotters for sniper teams, snipping off the mortars themselves.
Use either the GPMG or Missile+L85A2 troopers as a basis for Starstreak MANPADS, with L85A2 at ease minis as the other troopers in the AAA section.
