modelling white (rough) water

I have to model some rough white water (for a Kayak white water course). I have modelled the base out of styrofoam and have been looking at products to model the water. The course slopes downhill and is currently 2cm deep at the deepest. I have seen Valejo and Woodland Scenics products. Any others ideas? (I'm UK based), any tips or help would be appeciated.

GW water resin won't do it. It is basically a resin liquid, and is completely unsuitable for modelling rapids (for pools though, it is absolutely fine and relatively easy to colour).

Go with Vallejo or Woodland Scenics. Woodland scenics is what I bought, and used for the sea bases for my VAS ships. It comes out fairly solid and can be sculpted quite easily with a cocktail stick. If you leave it for a little while it is still malleable and easier to build up. Leave it to dry next to a heater to speed it up.

You can get Woodland Scenics at any Ian Allen bookshop (they do model kits and VMC paints as well). Or you could try online.

I cannot emphasise how unsuitable GW water effects is for this. If you scroll down far enough (probably a page or two back) then I posted a thread regarding the various water effect products.

The pictures are very big. The first picture shows the GW water effect (I put some on the base, and it just flowed like slightly thick water).

The subsequent pics show the woodlands scenics stuff.

GW is Games Workshop, a miniature wargames shop common in British cities. For Vallejo and Woodlands scenics water effects, you should probably check for ian allen bookshops in your town, and if there are none of them, try model train shops and model shops. Both are reasonably likely to stock water effects, but you can always ring and ask.
