missing runes

Doing a little google searching I found reference to at least 5 runes that aren't listed in MRQ. They are Dark Earth, Ice, Shadow, Trade and Undead. Were these redundant? What kind of effects did they have?

It does seems all of the runes have been dropped from Legend and while that may be good, I'm curious also if some of you GMs feel the need to compensate for their disappearance.

Not all the runes you've listed are Gloranthan canonical. Some, like the Trade rune, are heavily Glorantha-specific (Trade, for example, is specific to Issaries).

I don't think I've ever come across 'Dark Earth' (sounds trollish, but they have the Darkness rune anyway) or 'Ice' (Valind, perhaps? But not come across a specific ice rune).

Dark Earth is related to the Gloranthan division of Earth Goddesses into the 6 Goddesses, 2 sets of Maiden, Mother, and Crone. The Light side represents the Earth giving, the Dark side is things returning to the Earth.

Light Crone: Asrelia
Dark Crone : Ty Kora Tek
Light Mother: Ernalda
Dark Mother: Maran Gor
Light Maiden: Voria
Dark Maiden: Babeester Gor

Ice is indeed associated with Valind, Trade is the Issaries Rune. I am not so clear on Shadow and Undead.

Dark Earth (aka Malign Earth), as others have said is the less benign aspect of Earth (eg Maran Gor) and looks like a "filled in" Earth Rune (eg a solid square rather than a hollow one)

Ice is a solid black diamond (modified darkness rune)

Shadow is a darkness rune bisected by a horizontal line

Trade (aka Equal Exchange) is the "Issaries" rune - a bit like a capital H

Undead (aka Hunger) is a "Life" (or "Fertility") rune, rotated through 90 degrees and bisected by a vertical line.

There is a PDF on the Moon Design site (in the Glorantha Resource Library) that has more runes than anyone could want (dating back to when Hero Wars thought every deity should have a unique rune)

Most of these were around in RQ2 and RQ3.

Gorgorma had the Shadow Rune, Maran Gor the Dust/Malign Earth/Dark Earth Rune, Vivamort the Undeath Rune in RQ3 and the Ice Rune was around since the Snow King's Bride in RQ2.

Shadow is Darkness without Cold, Dust/Malign Earth is Earth without Life, tghe others have been explained. As for specific powers, I'd make some up.
