Minimum Ranges

Been looking at mortars now I have bought some and there does not appear to be a minimum range for mortars or the Nebelwerfer, as they can evidently fire direct normally and not have to use their artillery trait - is there a mistake somewhere?

Please check P. 21:
Impact Point and Inaccuracy
...
You may then select an Impact Point anywhere between
half the weapon’s range
and its maximum, which is where
the shot will land – this need not be in Line of Sight as
with normal shooting attacks.

If the mentioned weapons shoot "normally" the above rule does not apply.

Thats right IF they use their artillery trait, the second paragraph of the Artillery Weapons allows us to use normal direct fire:
Note that a weapon with the artillery trait may alway's be fired normally
I would have thought that all mortars and especially the nerf, would have a minimum range at all times. 12" would be fair?

What is "nerf" :?:

But as said: If the mentioned weapons shoot "normally" the above rule does not apply, nothing special...

Nerf means to reduce something in power. it's a reference to Nerf guns, toys which shoot foam darts.

And the opposite term is usually buff.

So if you nerf something, you intentionally make it worse, whereas if you buff something you intentionally make it better.

Anyway :) So the neblewerfer (nerf as its to tricky to spell :)) does not have a compulsory minimum range then? Thats not right, is it?

Ahh - Nerf = Nebelwerfer!

Why not right? All was confirmed, referenced and double confirmed, what is still open?

Well, in real life Nebelwerfer crews would take cover some 5 meters from the luanchers as they fired as well.

To put it this way, it's a game and no simulation. Anyway, if a Nebelwerfer crew would want to shoot themselves all they have to do is point the darn thing straight up and hope it doesn't deviate too much.

That said, you shoot too close to yourself and you might well end up within your own LZ.

All this said without me having the rules, though, so take it for what it's worth.

Im confused...

Artillery weapons fire "Normally" meaning they fire directly? How the heck could you fire a mortar directly? Some poor bastard is getting an 81mm mortar aimed at him like a bazooka?

Sheesh.... ouch.
