Minbari Federation Factbook...

If you don't mind my asking, Eryx; what exactly do you mean by 'a little hard going'?

Thanks for liking the book, but I'd love to see what I can do to improve on the next one for you.

Ok, this may sound bad, but really its not. Its just my observation.

For the most part it was like reading a science text-book in that it was throwing so much information at me and perhaps not in the best way.
The EA sourcebook I was able to read straight through in an evening with ease, because although it held a lot of information it was easy to read.
With the Minbari book I had to keep putting it down to try and assimilate what was being said. I don't mean that to say I didn't understand what was being said, just that perhaps it could have been laid out and worded easier to read.

That make any sense? Not sure that it comes across with what I want to say...

I'm not criticising, far from it.

Someone said :
I was under the impression that all Minbari were in one of these clans, not just Warrior Caste
First of all : All Minbari , from all castes are organized into clans and sub-clans ("fanes") , whether they are warriors , religious or workers .
Most notorious clans are caste-centered , but most clans are multicaste (as Lennier clas was) .
Second : pure worker caste clans (the most numerous , since workers are the vast majority of Minbari population ) are also called Guilds sometimes .

I finally got my copy today. After a fight with Wal-Mart.com, which refused to sell it for unknown reasons after I had ordered it in advance, and then having my second order through the ENWorld online store get lost in the mail, it finally showed up, slightly damaged from shipping, but more or less intact.

So I have yet to really delve into the contents, but the one thing I have to complain about right away is the pixelation of the pictures. I realize that a number of these came from a corner of the screen from the show and had to be blown up, but if the only way to get it on the page is for it to look like this, you may want to start considering having 3D artists recreate the picture rather than republish the originals. I mean I've seen slight pixellation in RPG books before, but this is really out of hand.

Otherwise, I'll be back in a few days to give you a full review.

The pixilation of some pictures didn't overally annoy me but I wouldn't want to see this in future books.

I just got mine today from Amazon. From skimmimng it looks good. Though I agree with others and wish there was a picture page for ships and vehilces like in the EA book.
I was quite amused when I saw that you used Fractal Terrains in both books for the planetary maps.
Keep up the good work.
I'm really looking forward to the Centauri book because my campaign is based on a Centauri world.
Thanks.
:)

Well the irony of my game is, even though i mentioned beforehand it would be on a Centauri world, no one is playing a Centauri. Players can be odd people.

I have to ask babakganoosh, is anyone playing a Narn in your game, THAT would be interesting to see.

Just call me Captain Tenneal right now.

LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish someone were. That'd be so much fun.
Alas no, right now we have humans and 1 Drazi since the guy who played a Minbari had to quit due to work.

Oh that sounds like fun, unless the humans can keep the Drazi under control you'll have about the same chance of an interstellar incident.

Actually (bringing it back on topic - sort of) the Minbari character was the worst for getting everyone in trouble. He had quite the big mouth.

I've been looking through & generally enjoying the book all day (just back from Anonycon).

The one thing that *does* bug me though is that it needs much better proofreading. Entirely too much tortured syntax including numerous times when what looks like it should read "who" is written as "why" and similar bizarre substitutions in that vein.

*shrugs*

I do the best I can. If it bothers you that much, I am sorry. Dyslexia can be a killer.

Question, was the Whitestar stats supposed to be 14 acceleration and deaccelration? It is supposed to be the fastest thing out there after all... And 4 is pretty.... Ummm. Slow :)

Just wondering what the official thing on this one was.

first impression
good work much better then the "tainted" earth alliance

Wulfhere

 only as I said good work at the first look hope to see more in the Centauri book

I am slowly reading the Minbari book (as well as other books at the same time :) )
I was wondering, as far as the Minbari history goes, how much of that was JMS and how much were you able to come up with on your own or from other sources, such as AEG or whatever?
