MgT 2e Weapons mixing question

Hello again all,

In CT/MT/TNE/T4/GURPS Traveller/Traveller 20 there are limitations place on some of the weapons that can be installed on a ship. The limitations are:

1. A ship use either beam lasers or pulse lasers but not both.
2. A ship have either a Particle Accelerator (PA) or Meson Gun in only one type of mount. If the selected is in a spinal mount then the ship can not have them mounted in a bay or turret, in the case of the PA or barbette.
3. A ship may have either a fusion gun or plasma gun and can only be in one type of mount either a bay or turret.

My efforts to determine if MgT HG 2e follows the same pattern by reading through the HG 2e section or through the forum have not been successful.

Of the rule systems I am familiar with, this is only true in CT HG. The problem is describing the ship with the USP. These limitations are removed in MT & TNE.

Not quite? You can only have one spinal, but you can have e.g. both a Particle spinal and Meson bays.

Isn't it the USP that AnotherDilbert references in the post above yours?

USP = Universal Ship Profile I believe.

In CT LBB 5 HG 1e they did allow mixing spinal, bay, and turrets of the same weapon type. Once you had the weapons installed you determined the USP. I was unable to figure out the system when I got the book and when HG 2e came out I put 1e away. A couple of years ago 2011 I dug LBB 5 HG 1e out going through the system again to figure out how to reinstate the missile magazine in HG 2e. At the time I had a fuzzy idea how the system worked, sadly my efforts with the magazine failed and I have not looked at my work since.
 
It simplifies everything into one code, and at the same time inherently balances the armament.

Kinda neat, though not realistic.
