Merchant Prince

Gibson's book "Virtual Light" was all about a pair of glasses containing illicit data that a megacorporation desperately wanted to keep under wraps.

Imagine a Traveller scenario where the guys are asked to smuggle some "contraband" that happens to be an AI on the run from the Turing police, hiding out in something the size of a micro data cartridge hidden inside a commdot on the character's chin.

Sometimes, the smallest cargoes can make the most money.

Or a model's mole!

(All this reminds me of Johnny Mnemonic with Keanu Reeves - though, there the issue was the data took up too much space...)

All that data in the back of his head, a whole three megabytes of hot RAM, and it was interfering with his ability to say the lines and walk at the same time ... aw, precious LOL

It just seemed to me that in any setting where information could only be transmitted at the speed of the fastest boat, then data itself becomes just another precious commodity - but its containers can be so damned small, compared to the containers of the usual consignments of wobbly headed geisha dolls.

Hey now. Keanu Reeves was in a lot of good movies! Granted, they could have been great movies if they replaced him with a good actor. They were still good movies....lol.
