Measuring Range

I found the wording a little confusing on measuring range. Is the range measured from stem to stem, or stem to base? The wording says "...from the stem...", but doesn't state exactly where to end the measurement. The group I played with was using the attacker's stem to the target's base for attacks, which I thought was how you target fighters. I think it is supposed to be stem to stem, as that allows the various scales to be used without a base-size stat needed. I couldn't find this question in the forums or FAQ.

I don't believe so, simply because there are a lot of large ships out there (Octurion, Adira, Ka'Bin'Tak, Victory) where the stem is hard to find, and in which a larger ship should be easier to target.

If a ship is supposed to be on a large base, then the base should be considered part of the model eligible for targeting purposes. Am I wrong in this thinking?

It is from stem to stem. I suggest if you can't see the stem on larger models designate a central point on top of the model and use that for measuring and turning.

Fighters are the exception.

yep allways stem to stem on ships, if you have a large ship which has 2 stems just designate one first before the game starts to be the measuring point

ships use the stem as a measuring point. if you shooting ship to ship, use the stems.
Aux Craft now use the nearest edge as the measuring point. shooting at or from a fighter, use the nearest edge.
