Measuring range question

Mongoose
I am still waiting on the rule book, but have the Pocket Rulebook. I hope to get the rule book as soon as possible, but in the short term can someone answer this question for me.

Question: Range is measured by base to base, post to post or other?

Range is measured from post to post. Space is big, really big, and your ship is really just a tiny dot somewhere in the middle of the base; its position is that of the post. The main purpose of the base is to stop the post from falling over!

Thanks for the info, the tiny gimped rule book doesn't tell me much. Hope to get the full rule book soon enough. =)

it's worth getting the main rule book. I was going off the pocket rule book for a little bit and realized that its missing some things - like shuttles. it tells you that you can prep a suicide shuttle but there's no rules in there about how shuttles work. there's also terrain, scenarios, full image reference sheets, history, etc. so it was worth it when I got it.

It is in the 'gimped' rule book... that's what I learned from without the Big Hard backed RB.

But yes, the main rulebook is completely worth it just for the full color guide to painting the various ships, making moons/debris, the ships are shown in color etc.

I carry both the 'gimped' and the full rulebook with me now.

Huh... I don't remember seeing the "post to post" bit anywhere in there, I always assumed it was from the base. Well... that changes things.

As for the book, it's gotten a bit out of date now with all the constant errata-ing. Not sure a guide on using actual rocks for asteroids is all that useful either. :P

If my order for the rule book didn't go missing I would have already had it when the miniatures arrived. =p Good thing is the seller will resend me another book at no cost, which is a nice thing for them to do. There was suppost to be a hand off from the UPS to USP, sad thing is that the UPS ships for the USP. I think there was a Transporter Malfuntion.

Your book is now in the hands of the mirror universe and being studied for tactical data on our defenses and capabilities before the trans-dimensional invasion begins!

*grin*

Its in there, from the Mini Rulebook,

Scale and Miniatures

A full range of miniatures is available for A Call to Arms: Star Fleet, with full details to be found on both Mongoose Publishing’s and Amarillo Design Bureau, Inc’s websites. All distances in A Call to Arms: Star Fleet are measured from the stem of a ship’s base (or from the edge of the base in the case of shuttles). In this case, pick one and measure only from that. All distances in A Call to Arms: Star Fleet are measured in inches
