Matter Disintegrators

You can keep the popcorn, a few cold pints are fine and lots of tasty snacks for watching.

Anyway back on topic (sort of)

What is wrong with using existing tech rather than wandering off in strange directions for your high tech gadgets.

Meson rifle. Must use an aim move which gives no bonus to hit but allows the rifle to "range" the target. explodes inside the target, physical armour does not defend. Personal meson and force shields available later.

Photonic blaster. Does your vacc suit have a transparent window so you can see me, say good bye to your eyes. (multi spectrum across entire visible and near visible light range to defeat monochromatic laser dazzle shields. Multi spectrum anti dazzle shields available soon from all good stockists.

Etc etc.

Pocking fun at stuff that makes no sense is entertaining, doing so in a reasonable way helps the OP and gives others options, it generates ideas. Flame wars with personal insults don't really help anyone.

Traveller is a make believe game played (in my experience anyway) by smart people with an interest in many or all forms of science, saying we shouldn't argue is a bit like asking 20 scientists to agree on a single theoretical interpretation

My GM would regularly just start rolling dice infront of us aswell, for no reason, but we of course didnt know that, which would make everyone call for Spot and Listen checks or everyone started to draw their swords

Zero: precisely the reason why I keep the rolls written down for when I do need them - players learn quickly enough that just because I asked for a roll, it doesn't mean I actually wanted one right then...

It also makes ambushes a lot more surprising - no dice rolls to alert players, so I catch the players more off-guard than usual. Shuffling paper, or looking things up in the cardfile is another way to get players edgy (I use cardfiles for NPCs, important places, creatures - all sorts - so players don't know what I'm looking up...) :)

Alternatively pause for a second, make some rolls and look something up in the combat, equipment or encounters section of the book then go on with the game.

Anyone asks, nothing happened, nothing to see.

Do this fairly often and paranoia wears off then hit them with something, then go back to fake rolls now they are nervous again.
