Magnamund Calendar

I dont know whether anyone has made up an in-game calendar. Heres a stab at one:

Magnamund consists of 12 months costing of 30 days each. The actual year length, though, is 364 days long. The remaining 4 days are made up of feast days, each representing the first day of each season:

Maesmarn: First day of Winter
Fehmarn: First day of Spring
Solmarn: First day of Summer
Aelsmarn: First day of Autumn

The months of the year are named after the 8 planets, and the gods Kai, Ishir, Naar and Salor:

TORM (30 days)
CANNADOM (30 Days)
Fehmarn
ISHIR (30 Days)
BAZITTO (30 days)
PLUTARNIS (30 Days)
Solmarn
SALOR (30 days)
KAI (30 Days)
GORDONIA (30 Days)
Aelsmarn
HERMIDOS (30 days)
SHUNA (30 days)
ITHIS (30 days)
Maesmarn
NAAR (30 days)

Each month is further divided into weeks, each comprising of 6 days. Obviously, there are 5 weeks in each month. Ishirsday is considered a holiday, and as such, even the peasants in the fields are permitted a day off work. Naarsday is considered an ill-fated day, and is typically the day taxes are collected. Munday is typically a day of markets, named after the earth itself. Aonsday has celestial significance and stargazers are known to prize this day for important events.

Munday
Luneday
Aonsday
Naarsday
Kaiday
Ishirsday (day of worship)

Other Holidays and festivals:

Fools Day (Bazitto 1st)
This day involves a lot of merriment. In many villagers, elected "Bazitto Fools" set up a temporary court, handing out extremely silly laws such as being forced to treat geese as royalty, or making the wearing of silly hats compulsory. These rules last until midnight, at the very end of the Bazitto feast. So long as no real crimes are conducted, the local nobles and town magistrates usually allow this merriment to go on.

Back at the old Tower of the Sun website, we did created a calendar, which had exactly the same structure than our Gregorian calendar. However, the names were different:

Sunday: Sowilo
Monday: Manad
Tuesday: Tiwas
Wednesday: Moivik
Thursday: Thurisas
Friday: Fehu
Saturday: Laugar

January: Ingwas
February: Mannas
March: Ehwas
April: Berkano
May: Perthro
June: Jera
July: Hagalas
August: Gebo
September: Raidho
October: Ansus
November: Urus
December: Othala

If you read the novel The Dragons of Lencia, you'll know that these names were made official since they are used in the book, although Perthro (May) was renamed Perthar. These names derive from some runes names.

Also, I just want to clarify something, isn't Maesmarn the name for the first day of autumn, not winter?

EDIT: I'm adding a little explanation by Richard Ford about the calendar: "The names of the months were actually provided by Joe, so I guess he's taken on board your contribution to the pantheon. The slight change is to reflect the Lencian version of the month, as opposed to the Sommlending version. If a chapter was set in Lencia I used the Lencian version. In Lencia Berkano is actually called Baerk. Jera is the same in both countries."

So, the Luneday we saw in the GS series fits in this calendar since it could be the name used outside Magnamund to designated Manad (Monday).

Ahh yes, I remember those now! Maesmarn! Yes , my bad. It is indeed the first day of autumn. Thats very interesting they have become cannon! Good to see the work on the boards recognized by Mr Dever himself!

So adding a little more extra detail...

Fehmarn (1st day of spring) 1st Berkano
Sommermarn (1st day of Summer) 1st Hagalas
Maesmarn (1st day of Autumn) 1st Ansus
Yulmarn (1st day of Winter) 1st Ingwas

I may also work on the day names though:

Kaisday
Ishirsday (also known as Luneday in parts of southern Magnamund)
Salorsday
Eldersday
Naarsday
Fryeday
Aonsday
