Magician of Yag Sorcery Style

Voltumna

Mongoose
In the Khitai source book, in the introduction to the sorcery chapter on page 64, it says:

"The Magician of Yag sorcery style, new to Conan and described in this book"

Was this new sorcery style edited out of the book? Any chances we can see it in a S&P or posted in the forum?

It got edited out by me, but S&P would be a good place for it.

Cool, hopefully soon. Just as the eyes of man, the hands of the monkey, and the belly of the crocodile, we gamers never have enough.

I'd certainly be interested in that. My PC and Yag-Kosha are on a first name basis.

Oh, is that so?
You know nothing of my work.
I look forward to seeing what this is about.

Incredibly old topic, but one that definitely caught my attention given that i'm running Tower of the Elephant....

Any word or inkling about what this "Magician of Yag" sorcery style was supposed to be? Apparently it was cut from the Khitai book, but was fully written up.

Bad to say it but Mongoose (forced or not by all the cases) completely forgot Conan.

And the license is long gone now.

I do not know wether giving a Conan rpg piece for free should mean breaking a copyright....

SUGGESTION: what if using the Search/Substitute tool in Word do they substitute any "Conan" reference with "OGL Barbarian"???

Alright phase two then...

1.) Is the person who cut the material to begin with still an active employee of Mongoose?

2.) Does anyone know if the Author of the book is reachable via email or on these boards?

So, if I'm reading the rules correctly, if a creature has DR 1 due to natural armor, that's really no armor at all unless a weapon with no AP rating is used against it (in which case, the DR 1 will soak up 1 point of damage).

That's correct. DR 1 would only be helpful against unarmed attacks and such.

For example, the creature's skin is thick enough to provide some protection against HTH attacks but not enough to hinder weapon blows.

I never thought about it, but a steel cap alone (DR 1) is useless but for protecting vs punches!

Right about AP vs DR 1...but wrong thread!

I'm here just because I hoped somebody resurrected the Magician of Yag style...

'Magician of Yag Sorcery Style' is quite unique style. I remember it went sort of viral when first surfaced. It should not be edited out please.

I guess we'll never know

Someone who's "into" this could use their old noggin and make something up. That's all the original author did. Heck, what is made up could even be better than what was taken out of the book.

Just sayin'.

I agree, and I am one of the few post-ers here who has a solid grasp about the sorcery section, but I have to admit that I am just not interested in doing a Yag Style of Sorcery.
I would much prefer to jury-rig new sorcery styles for our Pictish Peeps, Nordheimers, Black Kingdoms (and some specialized Darfari demon-magic), and even the proto-Aztec peeps that Senior Citizen encounters in Conan of the Isles. Ask me to do one of those, and I will.
