Lore (Tactics)

I just had a thougth that Lore (Tactics) could be used in battlefield combat to make a unit of troops more effective. By placing them in a suitable formation and shouting orders to keep them acting as a unit a commander could add the critical range of his Lore (Tactics) to their attacks and parties and any morale type rolls. Other skills might work the same way.

Battlefield fighting is more about order and disipline than small skirmishes and a good leader can make quite a difference.

I also play that if a character can come up with a good reason why he has learned a particular style during char-gen he can also use his tactics critical range bump if it applies (ie. My Gladiator practices unarmed attacks despite having a sword and shield, so in C range elbows and kicks are allowable AND get a tactics bonus). I try to keep this to 1 tactic situation per 25% of skill.

Other examples we've used: Close range shooting, Shield Wall training (this requires more than 1 person to know the tactic, but I allow for attacks on the same target (if within reach) on the same strike rank...a huge advantage. I also allow shield parries for the other shield wall member. So guy A can attack all of the time and guy B can parry all the attacks- aimed at both). The other one seemed easy enough when we selected it, but the Player has been both creative and ruthless with it's usage to the point that I have had to veto a couple of attempted uses: high ground. Seems easy enough, but whenever a fight is approaching he always like, "are there any tables around?"
