I have dementia praecox (schizophrenia) and that has led to me experiencing cognitive impairment. I still have bad moments where I lose track of things while running a game (I use check lists and flow charts to help with thatNo, her brain was damaged. No fixing that.

I went from an extremely strong intellect as a programmer to having difficulty handling a water bill in the space of 2000-2005. Since then I've been working hard to regain my intellect. I'll still have bad days but that I'm still parsecs in front of similar people looked after by my local NHS (the Assertive Outreach Team).
The key piece of advice I can is this:- Exercise your brain regularly and with varying sources of stimulation at your own pace and discretion.
