Looking for some sort of character creation worksheet.

Mongoose
I'll soon be running a Traveller game for for four people new to the game. It'll be my first time as well.

I was hoping to find a handy printable PDF that guides the way through the character creation process. Perhaps with page number refferences and the like.

Any assistance will be much appreciated.

Well, if you've got enough copies of the Core Rule Book (CRB), why not use the Character Creation chapter starting on page 5?

Have fun :)

How exactly?
How do you think it could be streamlined? There is a breakdown of the character generation routine in the front of the book. You could copy and print that several times?
How about you work on a PDF for streamlining? I'll help if you want...

That was my plan all along, I just didn't want to redo something that'd already been done so I figured I'd ask.

I introduce my group of friends to new games regularly and I know none of them are interested in reading and rereading the character creation chapter.

This worksheet I'm picturing would be like an expanded version of the character generation breakdown from page 5 of the Core Rulebook. It'd need spaces to write down results, a very brief summary on how to do each step and page numbers specifics.

It might resemble a cross between a character sheet and a flow chart in the end.

Straight up handing my friends a rulebook and a character sheet will have us playing Settlers of Catan or Dominion in seconds.

You have excel right? Or any other grid based thingy? Well expanding that would be easy enough.
I think it's going to take some work though...
Hmm, Point 1 and 2 can be expanded easily. Point 1 simply has to say what you roll for characteristics. Point 2 is harder but is simply copy and pasting.
Point 3 through 11, you have to use the book. It's all career details.
Point 12 through 13 is more copy and pasting, or copying out.
Point 14 you need th ebook again.

A worksheet is doable. Something to fill in as the process of character generation progresses, and a way to preserve the timing of Events and their consequences. You would then fill out the "in play" character sheet from it.

Say a maximum of seven terms, or whatever will fit otherwise?

Give me a bit. I'll see what I can whip up.

Try the MGT-Aids Yahoo Group. It's filled with stuff like this. It even supports not just straight Mongoose Traveller but Chthonian Stars and Twilight Sector.

And now I have a spot to upload my form. Membership pending.

Approved. In fact while I know the group home page says approvals within a few days, I've been getting them done within hours (if not minutes) of me getting the notice. All thanks to this little thing called "just hit 'reply' to this notice then 'send' to approve" and it's easy to do.

Sometimes TL 10 technology is great

Thanks. The worksheet has been uploaded to the file section under MGT Specifics. Let me know if it fills the bill.

kalf: thanks for the link.

I also grabbed a couple of copies of the Introduction to Traveller booklet (book 0) to help when I run a group - I figured that: a) it's less intimidating than the main rulebook, b) has only a few careers, so could be handed over to someone who wants one of those careers and c) because I picked it up cheap, doesn't matter so much if someone spills a drink on it rather than have my main rulebook squabbled over during the first character creation session... hopefully by the time the second such occurance happens, they'll have decided they like the game, so would want to get their own rulebooks.

Thanks kalfalnal for the link.

It's been uploaded to the MGT-Aids file area with credit to the original site.
