Looking for New Visual Resources for Traveller

I've been a long time Traveller GM but I've often found much of the visual reference material supplied with the game as published to be somewhat ... uninspiring. Not necessarily bad, mind you, just very conservative. The only editions (IMHO) that seemed to have evocative, imaginative artwork were Megatraveller and some of the the Chris Foss/Equipment Catalog stuff for T4.

I'm looking at Halo, Mass Effect and even Iron Empires for some visual elements, but I'm curious what outside visual resources some of you use for YTU. Don't worry, I'm not looking to critique anybody's taste. I'm just hoping for some more ideas for new visuals appropriate to the game.

Thanks for your input. :)

deviantart is a good website for all kinds of art. They have a sci-fi section you can browse.

Should pretty much get you to the right area of that site.

Thanks for the Deviant Art link. I've scoped some of those artists before with great admiration. Any specific artists you'd recommend?

Bryan Gibson has a fantastic collection of Traveller-inspired artwork on his artwork:

The Citizens Of The Imperium forums at www.travellerrpg.com has a rather nice Gallery section.

This link just went through the TML, so I'm spreading the joy here.

I'll add more when I find the email again.

Heavy Gear (Dream Pod 9) has some very good quality drawings. If you except the Mechas (definitely non Traveller), the art is showing a very interesting high-tech fashion.

You can also have a look at Terran Empire (Hero Games - Star Hero), many of the alien races can easily become Traveller minor races.

As far as I am concerned, the books and magazines from DGP have greatly influenced my vision of traveller.

If you consider PC games, you should perhaps have a look at games like Space empires IV and V or Galactic civilizations 1 and 2.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm a fan of Gibson's work as well and the Syd Mead stuff is always welcome.

The DP9 stuff is good, although pretty mecha-intensive.

The photobucket link sent me to a modeler's site (not Gibson's as far as I could tell). Was that intended? (EDIT: I found the Gibson stuff farther along on that site. Thanks!)

And this should knock your socks off.

Click the "The Artwork" link on the left then any of the "Image Portfolio" links on the webpage.

Actually, any of the links that lead to the graphics are worth it. Check 'em all out.
