Looking for ideas for DefSats and ground base miniatures

Hi. I'm trying to come up with some miniatures suitable for DefSats and Ground bases. Has anyone looked into this? Can anyone recommend certain minis?

For a satellite, with solar panels, you could try FT-363 from Ground Zero Games

You could use it for a communications satellite, or have a fiddle to turn it into a defense satellite.

I picked up the workshack small space station from that page to use as a civilian station in ACTA:SF.

I'll probably have the time to paint and assemble it now.
 
Aside from Forge world who do both Aeronautica and Battlefleet Gothic weapons and defence platforms try looking at Spartan games who have communications and defence satellites and a range of bits for the military base pack which include weapons and some rather hand domes.

Approx 3.5 cm triangle from ends of the gun turrets. the central hub is 18mm across not including spiky bits.

Orbital dock 5.5 cm across the main ring, 10.5 cm from furthest points on the outlying spines which are separate so if you didn't want them then don't glue them on.

I don't have the forgeworld ones but I'm fairly sure they are the same size 3.5 cm as the smaller def sats.

Oh wow, those are going to be way too big. Thanks for the pics Big-D, you saved me a hassle discovering they were too large.

I'll keep looking.
 
If you need tiny things you could try cutting the turrets off of the sats and mounting them onto small stande. The shuttle bases with full length stand rods should do. The guns on them are separate so mounting tham at the right angle is easy plus you do get different turrets and tubes too.

Ninja magic magnets are good - I have a hundred or more - they are however not perfect and the magnet can break off for its mount - however fixing that is alot easier than drilling out plastic stands from ships....

I have not got any of their stations but its worth checking out the Spartan Games models - quite a variety of stuff there .
