Looking at Battlefield Evolution.

Iron Knight

Mongoose
Howdy,

I’m looking at picking up battlefield evolution, but my friend beet me to the USMC so I was wondering what other faction to go with. I’m also concerned that the game doesn’t really have the forces developed yet. What kills tanks besides other tanks, because it doesn’t seem like infantry can. Does the game come down to who can bring the most tanks? I could be misreading the rules though.

So, is the PLA good? I hear the EU is good but I don’t think it makes a lot of sense have the EU/Brits fight the USMC and since those would be the only two armies in town I’d like to avoid it. MEA does remind me of Battlefield 2 but are they really functional against heavily armored armies?

When does Mongoose Pub. plan to have all the bases covered for their four factions?

The idea is to have all 4 factions as fully playable and balanced. At the moment they are fairly good, but will get better.

There is nothing wrong with having the EFTF going up against the Yanks, just try not to think of it as Blair's UK which he has tried to place firmly in under US command. Imagine a different leader coming in and trying to tell Bush / any Republican president what to do and being told where to stuff his ideas, and the UK Prime Minister taking a huff and joining Europe instead.

I don't know, that's kind of a stretch for 15 years. Last time I was there, there was a lot of anti-EU sentiment, especially in Scotland. Also, why would the UK risk fighting the world's biggest navy in a time where convoys can be destroyed at the push of a button hundreds of miles away.

Edit: I'm sure there are a large number of Brits that can refute this, it was just what I saw (and I saw a lot of it) when I was over there.

Because it would be the biggest versus the best.

Always have been, always will. None of that pansy stuff in the navy like them yanks.

MEA have been good at killing tanks, them Fedayeen Kornets are eeevil! But yeah, the EFTF is starting to look real nice.

The game not being fully developed is a good thing really, saves you from buying everything at once. Less choice of course, but this limits how much pain you inflict apon your wallet (or leaves space for other games too!).

Hope that helps.

Exactomundo.

MEA can either win really well or lose really badly, it is never that close I find. The minute a unit loses it's leader, they are buggered to be honest.

I get bored of using PLA, don't know why. I used them once and the unit comstructions annoyed me. I hate little units. Especially thousands of em.

It is, realistically there's little or no chance of a European Super State within 8 years.
I prefer to use the models to represent the "real world" rather than the "Evo world" myself. You could just use the models/rules and ignore the background

the pla are pretty good, bigger learning curve how to use them, but theur quit affordable to collect unlike the MEA.

Lets be realistic and hope none of this happens in the next 8+ years....

However things politicaly can change very fast in times of emergancy, a united Europe in 8 years is perfectly feasable given the right circumstances. Go back 8 years, and who ever have thought you could have Dr Paisley and Martin McGuinness sat in the same room and talking in a fiarly friendly manner regarding powersharing in NI.... Go back to 1987 and who would have thought that within 8 years you would have had Warsaw Pact countries in NATO (without invading them)?

I just play it because it's a fun game. Not for the background, if I do start thinking about it, it's a VERY 'what if...'.

I could not agree more. While its good so see fluff and concept art for SST and ACTA etc.. and that makes it really enjoyable I just find it leaves me completely cold for BFevo. It anything I would take it away completely and let people add what they want.

well i cant afford it at the moment, regardless of how many choices have!

i'm still at school but will be in sixth form next school year, so all i've got to go on is pocet money! and with battlefield evo it doesn't go very far. but it does mean i get extra long summer holidays this year (starts next thursday for me :D ) so i can paint my ACtA minis.

Me too sonny jim. Unfortunately I do not get pocket money!
I have to scrounge or sell what I already have.
Or paint and get money for that. Simple, effective.

i think your parents have to have earnt less than £30k last year. Mine did but wont tnext year so i'll may get it then. £30 a week just for going to school sounds nice. :)

You also have to turn up for all your lessons and WORKSHOPS!!!! I get sick and tired of explaining to some of the mutants I teach that they can't just skip all the worshops I run and expect to signed in so they can get their EMA *GRRR*

workshops? i'm going to the sixth form at my school so i'll be going to the lessons. my school doesn't run workshops, but it does kick you out if you play truant a lot.
